Technology Backing up music.....

man i got quite a bitta music on my comp, and i think its taking a toll on my comp's speed....anybody got an organized way to burn data cds??i mean, i burn by artist, but what if some albums get split up, or what not.....how do you label your discs to say taht the music is split..?

Having it all stored on your hard drive wont adversely affect speed, unless its basically full. However backing up is always a good idea. USe dvds....dvd writers are cheap and hold 4.7gb...much easier than loads of cds lying around.

oh im sure it is, makadon......when you put about 30 albums, i doubt it....

and the dude above ( i cant make that symbol) my computer has trouble with certain DVDs...i bought, i think, memorex DVDs, but when i put them into my comp, the drive would keep trying to read it, but it would never finally be able to read it...and yes, i do have a DVD burner to begin with...

is there a certain compatibility issue when it comes to DVD drives? to some companies' drives not read other kinds? and is there a site i can go to see which kinds mine wont accept?

Do u have to have a dvd-rw drive to use dvd-rw disks for storage or will they work on a normal cd-rw drive?

There is 2 9main) standards when it comes to burning DVD's. DVD+R and DVD-R, although moost modern drive can rea/write both types, it'd be worth googling your drive namer/model number to find out. Also when u buy dvd's to make backups, make sure they are decent qality ones, not some cheap ass ones thatll probably stop working soon as they've been burned.
