Mainstream music has always been around. Was Deathrow/Badboy killing hip-hop in 95/96? Was Fresh Prince killing hip-hop in 87?

Threads like this make me think that some peeps don't know what hip-hop is. Mainstream has never affected hip-hop. So you go Shady/Aftermath on one side, well you still got Immortal Technique and O.C. and so forth on the other.

There's many a door in this hallway, each different. Y'all just see the one straight ahead and don't bother even thinking about the others. Corny metaphor but u know.

I think that Jay-z and roc a fella made hip hop to commercial. Also i would have to blame p.diddy for that as well.

Fresh Prince, Sir Mix-A-Lot all before Jay-Z was even known.
