Technology Apple iPOD?

Is it really worth the hype. This new one just came out http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...8596/sr=8-13/ref=pd_ka_13/026-8680635-7263661 . looks great and would be perfect for my usage. But are there any alternativs who really do a better job at a cheaper price, with the same good looks?

Short answer; no. If you want a 30gb hard drive mp3/video player, you won't find one cheaper.

You can get a 20gb iAudio X5 mp3/video player for about £185, but the 30gb model costs more than the iPod. The iPod screens are a lot clearer, too.

If you didn't want video playback, then it would be a different matter.

thanks, i'd probably go for the video playback thing just to make sure I don't have any regrets later as they might make some good stuff for the video facility later on.

Dude to be honest... i'd wait a while till the 2nd or 3rd generation come out. Why? well simple. Right now they are not worth it. They can only play specific m4a video files which isn't so hard to convert but still a bitch to convert. And battery time for playing video is no more than 2 hours.
The apple video is perfect for me also since i do alot of performances and it will assist me getting more performances around when i can just give em a taste by bringing out my ipod. But if u just stay patient they'll get much better.
