Im thinking about going back to graduate school for Genetics. Bio has always been my passion, but back in college i was completely oblivious to what i wanted to do, so i took the easy way and majored in economics.

I hate finance and have no desire to work within it, so im unambitious when it comes to that shit. I dont want a job anymore because the only jobs out there that will hire me are financial jobs, fittingly. So im deciding on pursuing my dream and move down to Florida to study molecular bio(genetics)

just wanted to see if anyone out there is into this type of stuff also or could offer me advice. peaacee

i was lookin at the university of florida, its ranked 50 out of the top like 200 schools in the US which is good enough for me. I was looking at that or Univ of Miami mainly because i want to move down to florida, and i start bartending classes in 2 weeks so hopefully ill get a bartending gig in south beach to help with the money.

I doubt id be able to get into Univ of Miami, because my undergrad degree is not in a science. econ is considered a social science i believe? but that doesnt do a damn thing for me. Univ of Florida offers grad students a full year's worth of required intro courses which id obviously need, and then specialized classes for 3 more years.

I would still have to apply, and also take the GRE's? so i guess id start fall of 07 semester if i decide to do it

that's definately some good shit. uni of miami is a party skool..just to let you know. and i know you can a education newhere u keep ur focus on..but miami..my god dat skoolz crazy. how old u now? i alwayz thought u were 18 or 19. didnt kno u were done with ur undergrad n etc.

and good luck with the bartending thing..especially out there..its tough to git a job doing that..cuz alotta folks be doing it n etc. might have to start off as something else i the bar/restaurant..n everything. and goin down in 07..dats good..gives u a lil time to get everything together..just incase they not.

Yes, I'm about to get my bachelor degree in biology and probablly will get my master afterwards in ecology.

bio's hard man. Im taking chemical biology right now and its crazy. Go for it if u love it and can ace it, but watch out man.

thanks guys for all the responses...PELLA/The MENACE what do you wanna do eventually? What other courses have u taken so far?
As long as bio doesnt require currency exchanges and international economics/econometrics, i think ill find anything easier

Hm, what I wanna do eventually? I dunno yet. I guess I'll be tellin the world that we all gonna die unless we change many things, noone's gonna listen and when it actually happens and we get those clima changes I can say "I told you so".

im goin in for Paramedics man. I need this class to move up another year. I just started my 2nd semester of the year. I killed Chemistry and now i gotta ace bio and physics...if i dont, im gonna get dropped out of the program.
