Just recently, and by recently i mean the past week, i have decided that i would like to collect album art as it looks nice to complement and complete my albums. (I've spent years renaming and rebitrating all my digital downloads (tags and file names) to make it look better and organised for my pc and windows media player).

Is there a simple and efficient way to gather album cover artwork?
possibly a freeware tool? or would it be best to just download the pictures one by one and add them using the advanced tag editor in WMP? this is a lengthy process though.

anything simple, accurate and efficient?

would like to read about what other people do if anything, your thoughts and opinions.

much appreciated, thanks.

I abuse google images, copy paste into album. It doesn't take me long but then again I was smart enough to do this from the beginning, although I did get a new computer and had learnt this lesson from previous experience so. Blah.

thanks. i figured that doing that is the most accurate way i could possible find the artwork.

but im looking for something which can do batch processing and applying of artwork or just save me lots of time.

im sure that on the old versions of WMP we could find artwork and track titles etc from the internet to update information.

n.b. not after track titles, just artwork.

I have long since come to the conclusion that the LP's of yore had much cooler covers than the stuff they print nowadays.

You can drag an image into WMP

this doesnt make much sense to me. are you saying that you came to the conclusion a long time ago that they dont print as good of artwork and covers than they used to years back.

You can drag an image into WMP

using this method where would i drag it to? it has to be allocated to a specific album (and to all tracks of that album).

When browsing your tracks drag it to where the big space is for album art.

One only needs a glimpse at a proper LP collection and realize that the cover art back then was WAY cooler than what they print on the cd's these days.

Of course, back then they had much more surface to work with, that helps.

i see. i dont have that view in WMP i have the one where its all just text. i shall give it a try.

i notice you have windows 7 or just modded to look like windows 7. is that the ready to release version?

i guess adding about 3 extra steps (save, rename, put in album folder) makes the whole process much longer if im doing it for 100s-1000s of albums etc...

if only it were as simple as right-click on album in WMP, find artwork, add to album (without the need to save, therefore needing to rename and put it in the "album covers" folder).

you may ask why i would need to save and rename it and then put it in a folder: if its not organised, then why mess up the directory with clutter? i like order.
