Technology ? About my dvd/cd burner

Ok I have a Memorex DVD +/- DLRWL1 F16, I've had it since November I think and it has worked perfectly for the majority of the time, but after I've burned several cds or dvds it makes the burning speed take twice the amount of time, it usually takes me 3 minutes to burn an 80 minute cd and it usually takes me 14 to 16 minutes to burn a 4.7 gb dvd, yesterday it started takinig 6.5 minutes to burn a cd and about a half hour for a dvd, I just reformatted my computer a week or so ago and it's already doing this, I didn't install any software yesterday or the day before and can't figure out why it's doing this, I know that reformatting my computer can fix this but I don't want to go through all of the trouble again, is there any other way to fix this problem like deleting a cookie or a dll file or sumthin.

Depends on the program you use to burn the CD/DVD's. In Nero I believe you can change the burning speed. Maybe you accidently changed it to a lower speed.

nope still 48x and the 2 buffer levels are constantly changing too
