1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The facts are, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you.

Easier?

The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

* * *

Took this from Snopes. For some reason I felt like posting it here. Makes a nice point. That said, I can name ten Nobel Prize winners.

it sounds a little corny, but that's completely true

very nice post :thumb:

Note: do you feel some kind of special admiration for Nobel Prize winners or you're just a very informed person?

Winning a Nobel Prize is a major achievement. Though you might not be able to name every Nobel Prize winner, chances are you've felt the benefits of the work they've done.

That said, I'm sure you know ten Nobel Prize winners, you just might not know they won a Nobel Prize. Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter, MLK, Mother Teresa, Gorbachev, Kofi Annan, Arafat, Mandela, UNICEF, Amnesty International, The Red Cross...and that's just the Nobel Peace Prize.

1. Bill gates, Warren Buffett, Karl Albrecht, Prince alsaud, Paul Allen

2. Don't live in the USA to know who they are, but the trophy is like the brownlow medal for aussie rules footbal, so instead i'll name the last 5 aussie rules brownlow medalists.
2004 - Chris Judd
2003 - Nathan Bucklye, Adam Goods and Mark Ricciuto
2002 - Simon Black
2001 - Jason Akermanis
2000 - Shane Woewodin

3. Can't tell you miss america, but i can tell you miss universe (but only the last 2)
Canada - Natalie GLebova (sp?)
Australia - Jenny Hawkins

4. This is easy
Albert Einstein
Mary and Pierre Curie
Nelson Mandela
Martin Luther king
T.S. Eliot
Toni Morrison
Mother Teresa
Niels Bohr
John Nash
Albert Camus
Thomas Mann

5. Don't think i can list a dozen but let's see.
Jamie Foxx
Halle Berry
That chick from Billion dollar baby
Denzel washington
yup can't think beyond that

6. i don't watch baseball.

Not really a Nobel Prize. All the real Nobel Prize winners look down on that award.
