i think it the deal he got from def jam could not be matched by g unit anyway. they gave him alot of money just for signing and when the record did not sell they stopped promoting it.

real run down was this....
g unit, irv gotti, were interested in signing shyne, 50 hears that irv is also tryin to sign shyne.
while enquiries are being made by both parties (gotti/50) 50 basically gets angry that shyne is even talkin to irv, so he disses him on a hot 97 'freestyle'.
shyne retaliates with 'for the record' coincidentally which leaks in a close time frame to the albums release.
