Yeah, the UK has a big thing about being a pro-internet country, they want everyone online, they regulary advertise to elderly people about learning how to use computers and the internet. Because of this, theres so much competition between ISPs, they're willing to offer high speeds and large capacities for low prices. Even British Gas, runs their own Internet and Phone service, even though there main business is providing gas to heat your homes.

Here the internet got much cheaper lately. I could hop to 60mbps for less than 30$/month or 120mbps for less than 50$/month. I have 20mbps for ~20$ now though because I don't really need more. I have 2mbps upload too and no bandwidth limits. Come to think of it I have never had bandwidth limits since dial-up. No provider here introduces bandwidth limits except of for the mobile internet.

That's pretty cool. However I ran speedtest.net and found out that average internet speed in Ethiopia right now is at around 1mbps.

I think my parents pay about $25 bucks for 2 Mbps DSL. Not bad. My 9 Mbps is included in my rent...$300. Download the shit out of what I want for years using this ISP, and never got a letter once.

Son of a bitch, I want an Android tablet again. Hopefully, they'll be cheaper than the iPad. Even the high-end ones.

Seriously, Xoom and LG Slate look damn enticing. I never thought I'd want a tablet cus I think my phone can do what it can and if I needed to do something on my phone that it couldn't I'd most likely use my actual computer. The table isnt going to replace anything of mine but damn is that shit slick

Honeycomb is everything you would want in a tablet UI and more. Fucking amazing. The way it multitasks is incredible. And all the new frameworks. And the notification system. Fuck, this shit is good.

And the web based market is now live - http://market.android.com - though I can't seem to sign in. Just a temporary launch bug I guess. It looks fucking amazing. All of that, in a browser? Wireless push? That is sick. Makes Apple look ancient, with having to install garbage ass iTunes and then connect up your shit with wires.

The way the Web Market handles multiple Android devices is too sick. I have the G2, a NookColor which I'm about to root and put Honeycomb (yes there's a fully working Honeycomb ROM for the NC already) and I think my wife wants to get a Thunderbolt 4G. Can't wait to be pushing all sorts of apps and in the future, music, etc. It's gonna be awesome.

FAIL!
Samsung have a shortage on their Super Amoled screens and Hummingbird chips. They are downgrading the Galaxy S line:
It's official: Samsung I9003 Galaxy SL packs Super Clear LCD screen - GSMArena.com news

LCD instead of Super Amoled and 1ghz OMAP with inferior PowerVR SGX530 instead of the Hummingbird with SGX540. Imo it would've been better if they just discontinued the series. I see that they're going for sales hoping that most people will not notice and I suppose that they want to have enough S-Amoled screens for the Galaxy S2. At least they learned from their TV experience and at least introduced a new model name instead of creating a panel-lottery like they used to do.

A similar thing had happened to Wave not long before this. They discontinued the original Wave and introduced Wave 2, marketed it as superior despite it having exactly the same specs except of replacing the S-Amoled screen with a shitty LCD making the phone more bulky in result too.

Masta It's because they are shifting the AMOLED screens to the new GS2 I think.

Just please be under like...$300.
You could do what I've done and get a NookColor. No cameras, but shit, for $250, I ain't complaining:

And this is only a preview build, overclocked just a little. When the full stable build is released and some kernels that can push it a bit more.... it'll fly. I don't even think you need to root it to run the Honeycomb ROM. It boots the whole ROM from the sdcard, and if you take the sd out, it just returns to stock. Pretty sweet.

Mine's waiting for me for when I get to the US in 2 days. Doubt I'll mess with it over the weekend, but next week I'll defo try out the Honeycomb ROM.

Once again... the Android dev community fucking pwns.

Yeah... I think I'll wait for a proper tablet with Tegra 2. Or 3 next year. Won't be cheap, I know. But time to save up.

Looks like no more AppBrain, huh?

I watched the some of the event clips. I am definately sold on Honeycomb.

The Xoom may be my purchase. But I kind of want an Android / Win7 dual boot.

What happened to the Google Music announcement? Or was it just a rumor to begin with, that they'd be announcing it today?
