It actually sounds like Galaxy S with a meh 3 inch display and qwerty. I don't think it'll sell well.
oh yea of course - that's what i meant with the term 'lite'. not as in what the portal was to the original galaxy, but what the wildfire is to desire and what the x10 mini (pro) is to the xperia x10.

You're kidding, right?
The flash failed and the tutorial said it would and that I should just be patient. Waited 30 mins. and nothing happened so I unplugged it. Boom.

I cooned around for 45 minutes, looking for answers. Apparently it's not an uncommon problem. No one had an answer for me. So I restarted, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and it still didn't work. Wasn't recognizing my device. So I kept flashing and eventually it worked.

I'm using SPRecovery, So I guess I don't really have a ROM manager or whatever. I can't get the CM 6.0 for the Droid. I looked in forums, but they just say they got it from a ROM manager. WTF?

Yeah. Actually the Portal/Spica turned out to be superior to the original Galaxy lol. I wasn't really satisfied when I bought my Spica and wanted to replace it for the original Galaxy and now looking back I'm very glad that I didn't.
Personally I don't really like x10 mini and wildfire because their displays are just a bit too small. I mean 2,8 inch is way too small, 3 inch also feels small. I used to own a phone with a 3 inch display and it bothered me. Now I have a phone with a 3'2 inch display and I think it's alright - imo it's the smallest display size that feels okay. Actually it feels very comfortable and nice but everything smaller than that really seems too small.
A perfect lower mid-end smartphone imo would have a 3'2 inch display while being smaller and slimmer because they can easily do that with smaller displays and less hardware. Okay they sort of did it with the X10 mini but it's still a bit too bulky while having a screen that is too small.

Bricked and unbricked for the second time today. Either I am very good with getting myself out of shit situation (although not knowing how I did it) or I'm lucky and shouldn't be rooting.

Finally got something stable. Chevy's Simply Stunning 4.5 and OCd to about 1000Mhz. It's fast. Gonna see how the battery life is. I got SetCPU ready to kick in if it gets too hot so I don't fry anything.

I was running it....but I switched back to 5.0.8 because I prefer apps2ext rather than the new FroYo apps2fat method - and CM6 won't have apps2ext until 6.0.1. As soon as that comes out, I'll do it.

I flashed CM6 to my cousins HTC Desire yesterday though - works incredibly smoothly on it.

what was wrong with apps2fat? wouldnt that be compatible with future roms and devices allowing you to use the same sd card on your new device? i think i remember you saying something about having to back all the apps, reformat the card to fat32 only (no ext partition) and then redownload the apps - is that the reason why?

so in the new rom, do we also get the choice to select apps2fat over apps2ext?

Gotta find a 1300 Mhz kernel ROM. Running at 1000Mhz, but I'm speed hungry right now. Maybe I'll simmer down after a bit.

I am starting to think those "72 MFLOPS" numbers I saw for the Droid on Linpack's site were probably fake. I am sitting at 15.922. A lot. But a big difference from 72.

The main issue I have with apps2fat is that the apps would be unavailable with the sdcard mounted, which just seems dumb.

As for having a choice - no idea how Team Douche are planning to implement it.

I used to not care so much about physical keyboards on phones since I thought I could handle the touch screen.

Well, I made do with a touch screen and its cons for eight months and I gotta say the physical keyboard is now my favorite thing about my Droid. I'm much more accurate with it. I don't think I've spelled a completely different word when typing on it, unlike with the Eris.

I had a physical keyboard on my phone prior to the Eris. It was the LG EnV and it was great. The phone was small although the keyboard was adequate. I thought with the Droid I'd be clunky. It's not. Holding the phone in my hand instead of in my pocket isn't a big deal. And even if it is in my pocket, it's not all that much more heavy than the Eris.

I love this thing. Just feel duped by the Linpack scores and how someone may have cheated to get 74 MFLOPS. That's what I was going for. Or at least 30. Turns out most people max out at 1.2 Ghz on 2.2 at about 18 or so. Not the 30 I was hoping for. Oh well. :(

Yup the physical keyboard is what I miss the most. Typing on a touch screen is quite fast but I make a lot of mistakes and it's not very comfortable. Also a sliding keyboard is damn cool ;)
I dislike the fact that phones with physical keyboards aren't as slim though. I want my phone to be small, slim and lightweight.

I hope later this year we get a 2ghz'ish, 4"+ screen, front facing camera, vanilla flavored, sliding keyboard having phone. That would make me empty my pockets immediately
