yea i was looking at "just in" and noticed buzz was there, so downloaded it.

i still cant update maps. i think its something to do with the cyanogen and google issue, where it wont allow for the rom to update it because the product is a google product, not a modded one. i read someone had this issue a while back, but this baffles me because you seem okay with yours.

the download is successful but it always fails to install.

How many iPhone OS phones are out there and how many Android devices? lol

It's one phone with one OS against a plethora of Android devices.

It's not that fantastic.

I don't think it changes much. When people pick a phone they pretty much choose an Android device rather than "THE IPHONE". And that means something.

^See, android devices have the benefit of being on every major carrier in the US, and I imagine in the world. Some phones may be exclusive, but you can always get an Android device on any network you're on. With the iPhone, you currently have the choice of one and if you don't dig it, or you don't get discounts on it, or your family plan is on another network, you're limited. That changes much in the US, where depending on which carrier you're on limits your choices. People can't move freely because of insane charges if you break the contract.

I do agree that when people are choosing a phone, they do take the iPhone into consideration but they also take into consideration a number of other things.

In the end, what the iPhone has achieved is nothing short of spectacular and so far unmatched in the smart-phone market by a single device.

I know that here they sell Iphones on every network and 2 Android phones (Samsung i5700 and HTC Magic) on 2 out of 4 major networks.
Android devices tend to be more popular even though Iphones are cheaper. Only Symbian has a higher market share here because of Nokias.
Also, there are various versions and generations of Iphone so it shouldn't be seen as a single phone. People see it as one phone because it's made by one company, all look the same and share the same name. Only "generations" and "versions" change and people can pick whichever they want/can afford. I don't think it should be considered any different than Android considering that I think it's the strategy that works best for Apple.
Android is a totally different concept though. It's supposed to be an open multi-platform OS.
If it comes to Smartphones people usually pick an OS they want and then start choosing a phone. The fact that so many people pick Android over Apple is nice to observe.

SOFI, at least three major networks here in the UK have the iPhone, so that logic doesn't apply here.

It's boring as fuck anyway. I don't know how Apple stans buy essentially exactly the same device, year in, year out, with slightly more advanced hardware. I'd get bored shitless.

Exactly. I love playing with new things, I get bored quite fast with everything I buy and I find it awesome that I get a new version of Android here and there just like that -for free.
The anticipation for official 2.1 makes me really love my phone more and more. It'll be almost like a new, different phone.

I don't like the Android Robot. It looks so cold :p
Like it was about to kill my whole family and then point at me talking with his robotic voice with no emotion: "I'm a programmed robot, I'm incapable of feelings".."oh I also look like I was drawn in the 80s".
I also don't like the name - Android. I don't like how Google name their products. I understand the concept - Android - you can replace your app for messaging like Androids can replace their fists, legs or whatnot. I just think their marketing team stole its soul by not backing it up with something more positive.
However Android speaks for itself without great marketing and that's what I really love about it.

HTC Supersonic announced and renamed to HTC Evo 4G.

This looks dope:

We've been rumoring a WiMAX "HTC Supersonic" for a while now, and Sprint just dropped the hard news: the phone will be dubbed the HTC EVO 4G, will be released this Summer and it's easily the best specced phone we've ever witnessed. The hardware is of quite obvious HD2 descent, but with Android onboard and some nice aesthetic tweaks, the EVO 4G takes on a life of its own. The handset is centered around a 480 x 800 4.3-inch TFT LCD, with a Snapdragon QSD8650 1GHz processor under the hood (the CDMA version of the QSD8250 in the HD2 and Nexus One), and even a helpful 1GB of built-in memory and 512MB of RAM -- hello app storage! Even the battery is bigger than the HD2, and the camera is an 8 megapixel monstrosity with flash, that's capable of 720p video, and is augmented by a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for good measure. The phone features HDMI out (though you'll need an adapter for turning it into a TV-familiar HDMI plug), 802.11b/g WiFi, and an 8GB microSD card. There's that still-rare Android 2.1 underneath an updated version of HTC's Sense UI. But... despite all these wild features, what actually sets the EVO 4G apart is the fact that it's Sprint's first 4G phone. The handset runs a combo of EV-DO Rev. A and WiMAX, with calls still being made over CDMA and the EV-DO / WiMAX options for data. Interestingly, it sounds like concurrent data and voice use might be possible for the first time on CDMA carrier in this way (killing AT&T's well-advertised differentiator), though Sprint says that's still in the testing phase. One other new feature is the Sprint hotspot app, another MiFi-style connection sharing number, which is obviously aided greatly by the WiMAX on board and can support up to eight concurrent users. Follow after the break for our hands-on impressions and videos of the phone in action, including an up-close-and-personal test of the touchscreen keyboard. Below you'll find galleries of the phone by its lonesome and up against the Nexus One and iPhone 3G.
