HTC Bravo hitting T-Mobile UK in late March.

Similar to Nexus One but with "optical joystick", HTC Sense UI, and those 4 physical buttons as opposed to the touch buttons on the Nexus. I think this is packing that same Snapdragon processor.

This will be a big seller for sure.

I really desire the nexus one or HTC Bravo but the price here will be like.. unbelievable. I wonder how much it will cost in the UK though.

Also I know I mentioned it before but I don't know if I posted a pic, but here is the Android microwave. There is also an Android washer/dryer.

The touchscreen interface can apparently run apps as well as controlling whatever system it is connected to.

Hot. I think this paves the way for a true Android synergy between all home entertainment devices.

Imagine controlling everything in your house from your washing machine, microwave, oven, fridge, entertainment systems, lighting, etc, from a centralized Android hub wirelessly connected to every device. You could use a 10" Android tablet slate as the main hub and control everything from that. Now that would be the shiznit.

MotoRoi - essentially a keyboardless Droid with higher spec. Supposedly this thing is packing an 8MP camera with dual xenon flash and an HDMI socket!

15" Android Vega tablet supposedly hitting T-Mobile UK very soon!

Tablet manufacturer ICD have joined forces with T-Mobile UK to announce the carrier’s “portable family hub tablet”, the new ICD Vega. The 15-inch slate uses NVIDIA’s Tegra 250 chipset and runs what will be a heavily customized build of Android 2.0 tailored to family use: that means shared calendars, internet access and SMS/MMS messaging support, with a T-Mobile SIM preinstalled for wireless connectivity.

WiFi is also supported, and since there’s a regular browser on the Vega you’ll be able to access all the usual sites: Facebook, MySpace and other social networking, along with internet radio and online shopping. There’s also an FM radio, on-demand TV and Full 1080p HD video playback support (though it’s worth noting that the Vega’s 15-inch display only runs at 1366 x 768, not 1080p resolution). The Vega will be able to automatically send out SMS updates for calendar reminders.

We’ll be catching up with the T-Mobile and ICD teams at CES 2010 today to find out more and get some hands-on time with the Vega. Unfortunately neither company has revealed exactly what you can expect to pay for the tablet (we’re guessing there’ll be a monthly subscription involved, which will hopefully help bring the initial sticker price down a bunch) nor when you’ll be able to buy one. More specifications here.

Press Release:

T-Mobile and ICD Reveal First Mobile Connected Tablet Made for Busy Families

Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Las Vegas, January 7, 2010 – Innovative Converged Devices (ICD) and T-Mobile UK today unveiled a new portable family hub tablet which will be available in the UK later this year. Visitors to CES were given a sneak preview of the first Android-based tablet with multiple mobile connections which will be featured in a new T-Mobile family offering.

Exclusive to T-Mobile in the UK, the centrepiece of the family hub is ICD’s new Vega, a 15” touchscreen device designed primarily to sit in the kitchen. The tablet offers one-touch access to a household calendar so families can organise their busy schedules in one place that everyone can always reach. It can be accessed by the whole family, wherever they are, via the web on a mobile, work computer, home PC or other devices with an Internet connection. The calendar automatically sends SMS text reminders to the family’s mobiles, putting an end to scraps of paper and nagging phone calls. And because it comes with a T-Mobile SIM on-board, it’s easy to make a quick hands-free call at the touch of a button. The family hub is a full-featured wireless tablet with Wi-Fi web browsing, on-demand TV, access to social networks, video chat and games, as well as an FM radio for the complete kitchen set-up.

The concept is in the final stages of development by T-Mobile UK and ICD and was created following extensive customer research and close collaboration over the past 18 months. The team wanted the most responsive experience available so the ICD Vega tablet is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 250 mobile web processor to provide uncompromised Internet browsing and full HD 1080p video playback even while the tablet is undocked from its base.

Richard Warmsley, Head of New Proposition Development, T-Mobile said: “We spoke to over 1,000 families who told us they often found it a hassle to organise a busy family life without nagging or forgotten appointments. They said that something simple and affordable to help with this would be invaluable. We took this as a challenge to do something new with technology that would be relevant to a wide range of customers, not just gadget lovers. We’re developing a fantastic package to meet exactly these needs – by creating a family communication network – using ICD’s exciting new Internet and entertainment tablet, with T-Mobile’s award-winning network at its heart. We look forward to bringing it to market later this year.”

“Bringing a high-end, well designed and engineered device to shelves at a mass market price has always been a Holy Grail for the consumer tech industry,” said David Hayes, CEO of ICD. “The close collaboration between T-Mobile UK, ICD and NVIDIA has allowed us to work quickly to integrate insights from consumer research directly into a compelling product with supporting services, solutions and content.”

Pricing and availability will be announced closer to the retail launch.

those look nice.

i'd like to get an android based pocket media player one day. these media players kinda make portable dvd players obsolete - unless you want things like bonus material from the disc.

I was in a T-Mob store today btw, and they had the Samsung Galaxy Spica. I didn't realise they had picked up it.

They're still pushing the Hero/G2 Touch as their main device now, and you can't get G1's anymore, so currently (in retail stores anyway) the only Android phone with a QWERTY is the Motorola Cliq/DEXT.

I feel another Android device with a QWERTY will get launched on a major carrier imminently.

yea i noticed that when i was christmas shopping. you can only get G1's on t-mobile contracts indirectly from third party sites.
the dext is okay, but its pretty much aimed for a teenage group with all the social netorking ui.

they should push the galaxy a bit more because i tried searching online and i couldnt find the phone.

okay, just searched for it through menus (not search) and they call it the 'portal'.

they need to push android more here in the UK.

people at work still dont get it about google. they think google is still just a search engine. things have come a long way since 1998. i mean why would they not enter other markets and expand business. they are doing everything thats relevant and useful in todays technology world and the majority of it is free and intuitive - what more can you ask for?

people are still hung up on the idea of getting an iphone because it looks fun.

remember the guy at my workplace who i said claimed he wanted an N97 so badly? he bought an iphone after taking the man in the O2 shop's word that the N97 mechanism will break after 6-10 months.

then recently i told him everything terrible (to my knowledge) about the iphone, and android's advantages over apple. his reponse??? "yeah, but.... iphone has a lot of apps".

is he stupid? android has a lot of apps. 90,000 vs 30,000 - what's the difference? the remainding 60,000 are probably junk like the "beer glass one" or just ones that no-one knows about and apple just always state the number of apps they have in their store to make their app store look superior for the sake of statistics.

oh, and the vital point here. app store is losing its developers to android. apple is losing their share in every department slowly to android. - they even have to look for a new search engine (still generating revenue for another competitor - microsoft (WinMo). but they'd rather do that than generate rev for google's android which is deemed as a much bigger threat to their mobile os than WinMo is... pathetic.

going back to people how still dont get it. i've informed them (even a computing graduate from university who should be familiar with different systems and the idea of open source) and he still wants an apple iphone when he now knows exactly the main reason why android will always be a step ahead of apple. reason: looks nice, fun to use. real reason: bloody adverts brainwashing people.

i think what needs to be done here in the uk is for android to release a lower end spec phone - one which is affordable and will appeal to a teenage-young adult group. they need to be a little bit less techy with it and just make the phone look nice and appeal to them even if its crap. make it really small and not so much of a smartphone (i.e. take some features out etc...) didnt really like the designs that came with the htc tattoo.
