Strange. Haven't had this issue. Do they still show up on when you use GTalk on the computer?

not sure about this one. Why not just leave them in the address book?

No...I would suggest backing everything up using myBackup Pro and doing a wipe from the recovery menu.
if i was to go ahead and do a clean wipe would i need to reflash the HTC image before the CM rom?

no....i have wiped and flashed CM multiple times without having to reflash the HTC image.

new CM came out last night btw, i just flashed it and it's fast.

---- v4.2.13
* Fix backwards compatibility code for services
* All new multitouch code using Eclair API
* New kernel with tweaks and new SDCC driver from Nexus tree
* Contacts app updated to Wysie's 2.7
* Fixed the fix_permissions script
* Various other minor bugfixes
Cyanogen also tweeted recently that they have finally obtained some drivers that allow for the 2.0 camera to work on a G1. So now the Camcorder is the only thing standing in the way of a full 2.0 ROM port.

Don't expect anything further than that though, at least not in the way of official new Android features from Google being backported. The G1 simply doesn't have the spec to be able to run a lot of the new features from Android 2.1, such as the new cooliris gallery, live wallpapers, etc.

My G1 contract is up in April so I'll be looking into getting something else then, hopefully the rumored Nexus Enterprise with a QWERTY keyboard.

Mentioned it before, but just heard confirmation. My cousin is totally working on Android! He got the job and has been a part of Google's Android development team for the last couple of months.

I just sent him a long ass message on Facebook lol. Totally awesome.

LMFAO at Apple trying to register a patent....for something Android already does. Apple you fail....again.

Despite the incredible realism of the drawing above to the left, we're probably not looking at iPhone OS 4.0 right here. Instead we've got Apple doing what Apple does: applying for a patent for some pretty vague functionality that may or may not end up in a device someday. No harm in that game, but it looks like Google's already done the "put a contact on the home screen with their picture" thing before Apple got a chance, as demonstrated on the right. There are other little tidbits to Apple's approach, however. Apple is naturally showing that little numeric badge we know so well, to show what sort of new activity the contact has (hopefully that pulls calls, SMS and email into one pretty little package, like we've seen on other modern operating systems), but Apple also mentions that "an icon associated with an entity can be temporarily displayed on the mobile device based on the proximity of the mobile device to the entity." So, Stalking 2.0. We like it, and hope to see it in some future iPhone software, but between the crazy broad claims in the rest of the patent and Android's prior art, we'd say Apple's chances of getting this 2008 submission approved are pretty slim.

Guys check out this video of the app "WaveSecure" - it was one of the big cash winners at the recent Android Developer Contest 2.

Nothing graphically flashy, but damn is the functionality there. That shit is dope.
