Cyanogen 4.2.5 just came out! It's still based on 1.6 Donut, but includes a whole heap of stuff (new features and bugfixes) from 2.0 Eclair. I just flashed it and GOD.DAMN this thing FLIES. It's insanely dope.

If any of you are running rooted G1's (if not why not?) you NEED to flash this ROM right now. It's soooo fucking sick.

Droid sold 250,000 first week. This is very impressive. I'll definitely be interested to see the post-Xmas sales figures.

Supposedly the SE XPERIA X10 is launching in the UK in February. That's going to be a big seller too IMO.

Just saw an HTC Tattoo advert on UK primetime TV......looks like Vodafone are putting some money into advertising it. I think that'll sell well over the Xmas period as well.

It does have to be said, the XPERIA looks like a sexy beast. I predict big sales for it.

Apple files patent called “enforcement routine”… demands user to click on ads before using device

Apple has filed another patent that is getting a great deal of people talking. This one is called “enforcement routine” and the premise behind this is that in order for you to use your device, computer, iPod etc you will need to watch or click on the advertisement. Sounds a bit controlling and reads:

“Its distinctive feature is a design that doesn’t simply invite a user to pay attention to an ad — it also compels attention. The technology can freeze the device until the user clicks a button or answers a test question to demonstrate that he or she has dutifully noticed the commercial message. Because this technology would be embedded in the innermost core of the device, the ads could appear on the screen at any time, no matter what one is doing.

The system also has a version for music players, inserting commercials that come with an audible prompt to press a particular button to verify the listener’s attentiveness.”

That's some fucked up controlling shit right there...

Xperia takes forever to come to the US, sucks. The phone is so damn gorgeous, but it needs a mother f'n keyboard. Maybe it'll be good enough that it doesn't, guess we will find out.

Bullshit. Android is the best mobile OS.

iPhone OS = no multitasking, no background processes, no thanks.
Dont just say its better, why is it better? I've got nothing against andriod, competition is good for both camps. I had a chance to play with a Motorola Droid and was impressed but still prefer the iPhone. Multitasking and background processes on the Droid was great but battery life was reduced a lot. As long as I can listen to music and browse the web, or make a call and check the web or a txt im fine which is what im currently doing on my iPhone.

Strength of iPhone:

- User interface, easiest and slickest phone to navigate I have used.

- Media/entertainment/Web browsing
Best music /video player. Best web browsing on a mobile phone with multi touch.

-iTunes Music store largest online music/videos/movie store. More content to choose from compared with Amazon.

-iPhone App Store, 100,000 apps vs 10,000 Android. iPhone Apps from well known developers.

Like I said the Andriod platform looks promising. And so far the Motorola droid is the closest thing that can compete. But its still not on the same level even with better hardware specs.

Currently:
Iphone OS > Andriod
Mac OSX 10.6 > Windows 7
Michael Jackson > Prince :p

Enjoy using only one app at a time, not being able to replace your battery or upgrade your internal storage, being at the mercy of Apple's restrictions as far as what gets in the app store and what doesn't, and having to jailbreak your phone to do things that it technically is capable of doing but Apple want you to buy a newer product for.

iPhone is a piece of shit and Android smacks it upside the head. Apple are running mighty scared of Google and Android right now, ask Michael Arrington ;)

As for OSX.....meh. Apple fanboys used to say "Intel inside, idiot outside".....until Apple started using Intel processors. I know people that have used Macs for 20 years that are now switching to PC's, because hardware wise there is basically no difference and they are tired of Apple's heavy-handedness.

As for your last comment, that proves you are a moron and not even worth responding to. Might as well say Basketballs > Washing Machines. But OK, if you SERIOUSLY want to have that conversation with me (which I know that you do not) I will fucking clown you to the highest degree. Don't try and mention my two favorite artists of all time, both of whom I am more educated about that everyone on this board put together and think you won't get made to look stupid. If you want it, come to "Don't Stop The Music"......and bring some tissues to cry into.

lol, i love the way you closed your argument casey.

very true SOFI... very true.

3en. are you the guy that makes remixes?

no-one requires itunes or an official store to download music. one way or another you can use the internet (on your phone) in general to download music, legally or illegally.

What can the iPhone do that an Android phone can't? It's a broad question cus certain phones can do different things but this is a better arguement I think. Really there isn't much but pinch to zoom which some Android phones do. iPhones are jsut wak, son

If I'd compare the 2...

I'd say Iphone = the crackwhore down the block you pay 20 bucks for a sloppy fuck.

Android = the Grade A escort you pay 500$ an hour to fuck, which makes you feel kinda good at the end. lol
