the way i look at it, those players have done as much as Beckham has, yet its always Beckham this and Beckham that.

Its just my opinion, but i feel my bringing Beckham back in, England are going backwards.

The last time England dropped Beckham we failed to qualify for the Euros. In fact against Croatia we only came from 2-0 down because Beckham changed the game.

The leaders of Terry/Ferdinand/Gerrard/Lampard dont seem to rally the troops, Terry can't even rally the Chelsea players, hes pretty much given up this season.

Gerrard or Lampard play with fear for England, never looking for the positive pass, its always back to the defenders then back to the keeper who lumps it forward for Wayne Rooney.

England have a team full of workers, or overhyped youngsters, whens the last time Lennon or SWP put in a good cross? they beat their man and cross it to the first post, they are no where near the level required. Milner and Ashley Young look good prospects but both are unproven at the highest European level.

It's all good beating the fullbacks of Stoke and Fulham but International football is alot more technical and tactical, something they are unproven at. I wouldn't just throw them in with no real experienced player in with them.

This is true i suppose. There arent many other options. Bentley is a prick and Milner is unproven. But surely Walcott is first choice in that position now when fit although his future may lie as a central attacker.

Maybe its me but I dont see what Walcott has to offer right now apart from raw pace. Can he beat a man? of course, can he pass 2 yards? no. His hattrick against Croata was very fortunate, he has potential but I dont think he has improved that much since Southampton. :worried:

Bentley should stay away from the England squad.

Beckham has little in his game besides crossing, passing and free kicks. he has little pace, little skill or tricks, never beats players, scores very little, cant tackle.

Walcott is still just 19 and has great potential imo.

Well, Beckham never needed pace or tricks. Alot like other top players like Pirlo or Xavi. He doesn't need to beat players, he can still cross the ball in.

What woud you rather have a winger who cant beat players but cross the ball in very well or a player who can beat players but cant cross to save his life?

well im a fan of old fashioned wingers. i.e one that can beat players with pace and skill and put in good crosses. Thats why i have always rated Joaquin so highly. But there arent many players like this in football now. Thats what id rather.

you have to agree that Beckham is highly over-rated and has been throughout his career?

Overrated by some due to what comes with the whole Beckham Package. But in the same context he is underrated due to that.

Alot of times I've seen people overrate him due to his fame, but then totally undermine his talents because of the fame.

I'm a fan of those wingers too, I think everyone is, but there is a limit nowadays, even C.Ronaldo does not go past his man anymore. The main point is the efficiency though, C.Ronaldo last season was more efficient then ever before, but the season before last he was a more exciting and possibly a better player but didn't score as many goals. Even Giggs thinks that.

this is true. id rate Beckham as a good footballer. Nothing more, nothing less. I certainly dont consider him to be a great, but i dont think he is rubbish like some people do.

Bobbo, I disagree with you on Becks. He is (at least was) great. His passing was immaculate. If the soul of football is being open, the heart of football is putting the ball there. Becks could do that, spot on, every time.

He scored plenty for an AM, his free kicks were always dangerous and he had that vision and creativity for the unseen pass.

Great? no way in hell. lol.

when i say great i mean players like Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, Zidane, etc. Beckham shouldnt be spoken in the same sentence as players like those imo. Maybe you could say that he is one of the great English players (i dont think so) or one the greatest set piece specialist (i agree) but he is nowhere near an all-time great in terms of all round ability and achievement and performance on the biggest stage.
