Fuck Working Out

Fuck it I'm done. I went to the gym today and weighed myself, 208.8 lbs. I'm normally around 201-202, and now I'm gaining weight like crazy. I work out religiously, been busting my ass doing cardio and weight loss regimens, sweatin like a whore in church, waking up early, taking weight loss supplements, eating vitamins, taking stuff for the achy joints I have due to working out, and then I go to the gym and 209 pounds wearing just a pair of boxers and a LiveStrong bracelet. Its fucking bullshit. I'm heavier and weaker than before I started the gym. So I hit the punching bag a while and stormed out.

On the way home I threw out the Natural Water Pills, the Cinn-Max cinnamon tablets, the DexaTrim weight loss supplement and the NutriTrim appetite control chewing gum. Then I threw out my weightlifting gloves. Fuck it I'm done with the gym. I go in there and the CD player is broken, so they are jamming the only radio station this hick ass town gets, which is country. How the fuck you work out to country music?

Just venting my frustration.

I think you're being too hard on yourself. Maybe you've lost bodyfat and put on a little muscle? Muscle is heavier than fat.

i'd like to apologize for my bitching rant, that shit is for females.

i will go back to the gym tomorrow, pray to god that the cd player is fixed, and just bust my ass harder than ever. use it as a learning experience.

thanks for the kind words 2pax but i dont think thats the answer, who knows tho.

it was the country music that made me go crazy. mp3 player tomorrow. fuckin rednecks.

I assume you're trying to lose bodyfat? Stick to a pretty strict diet, some cardio training and some weight training. Then unless your body defies the laws of Physics, you should see results pretty quickly.

sounds quite funny that the owners or people in charge of the gym think country music is suitable or the next best thing for music at the gym.

If you aren't eating right all that shit is useless.

I like how you are using this as more motivation though, keep it up.

yea it depends what you are eating. cut back on sugar and junk food. you have to be disciplined about it. McDonald's and all that shit is out from now on.

Lay off the Coke and Pepsi and with 2 to 4 weeks you'll lose 5 to 15 pds like that. drink your water.

even make yourself up some Hot Tea. buy some green tea bags at the store. boil some water.

pretty much what everybody said on here is right. dont give up it will take some time. im due to lose about 30 pds myself.

i dont drink soda at all... i drink mainly water, but sometimes gatorade and such. i admit i dabble in fast food but not as much as the "average american" i'm talkin maybe once a great while i'll eat a double cheeseburger from the dollar menu.

yeah i tossed the supplements [and vitamins too, shoulda kept them] out the window on the drive home. they taste like shit and they werent doing anything for me anyways.

i'm far from being "fat" but still i'd like to trim down and tone up. my body fat is SOMEWHERE between 7.5-9.5% because their little fat reader varies from everything in between those two numbers.

going to the gym in a little while and if they have country music on again i'm gonna stab someone.

If you're below 10% bodyfat you don't need to trim down in my opinion, plus once you go below 10% it becomes even harder to lose that fat.

im more tryin to tone up than trim down i guess. i gotta flat stomach, but no abs at all. like i can feel them under the fat, but the fat is still covering em.

yeah fuck the weight loss shit, all it does is taste bad. only stuff i take now is glucosamine.

Yeah. Working out is bullshit.

I just play soccer and I'm alright. 170-175 lbs, 6 feet.

My legs are pretty much great, I have no fat, but no real muscles in the upper part of my body, which is why I'll start playing basketball again.

Something is wrong there man, something is wrong there. 7.5% bodyfat is extremly low. That's a number many NBA pros don't have. So your fat reader doesn't work or you're definition of 'fat' is wrong.... you say you are 208.8 lbs.... if you're bodyfat indeed is that low, you gotta be quiet tall and/or in great shape, basically - how you talk about your body doesn't make it look like you are in great shape. So I dunno, something is wrong there.

Of course you can work out for definition, it changes your programm a little. like I said, if you are at 7,5% bodyfat there is no more fat to lose basically. I can't believe that this is true because you have to work out extremly hard to get it done. I dunno, that's a number bodybuilders aim for.

edit: I searched quickly for a picture of someone with 10% bodyfat and came across this (a rugby player btw).

so yeah, if you are indeed at 7,5% and weight as much as u do, you should be just as much in shape as this dude or you gotta be like .... I dunno 6'7'' and very thin. But fat can't be your problem, if those numbers are correct - that's what I doubt.

Diet is incredibly important when working out, whether you want to lose/gain weight or gain muscles. You also need to eat 6 times a day, divided evenly. 3 good meals (don't overeat) and 3 snacks. Eating throughout the day actually makes your metabolism work for you and you lose weight faster.

Cardio isn't good for weight loss either, it's for stamina. You need to reach and attain a certain heart rate. The bikes in my gym measure your heart rate and show a graph of function telling you whether you're doing cardio or weight loss.

It's better to be too skinny than too fat (unless you're at the North Pole or starving) but when you're body fat is too low it's also unhealthy.

If you're skinny enough but don't have any tone you need to start lifting weights.

Make sure you get a program and know what you're doing. Misinformation or lack of information can actually be dangerous and/or counter-productive when working out.

I esp. agree with the last words, information is very important if you want to have success with working out, it simply saves time and sweat. ;)

P.S. You reach a certain heart rate with Cardio exercices so Chron you can't say Cardio isn't good for weight lose. It is, but I agree, you should make sure you are at a heart rate where the fat burns, so I've heard. ;)

i wish i had the stamina and motivation to play soccer... i admire soccer players but the sport doesnt interest me. i'm into high scoring sports, like basketball. i play basketball a lot. football is okay, but i'm not crazy about it. i'd rather play baseball than soccer but baseball is boring. maybe if i gave soccer a try i'd like it but too much running.

so yeah, if you are indeed at 7,5% and weight as much as u do, you should be just as much in shape as this dude or you gotta be like .... I dunno 6'7'' and very thin. But fat can't be your problem, if those numbers are correct - that's what I doubt.
when i joined the gym i was at like 12.8% body fat, and about 220-225 pounds. i did a lot of weightlifting and got my body fat down to 7.5 then i didnt go back to the gym for 8 months. then i started going back, it said 10% or so, then i got it to say 7.8% once [i didnt eat that morning, im sure it had something to do with it] but when i eat a good breakfast, then go in and work out, when i leave my body fat says about 9.5 or so. i dont know if their scale is right, or if their body fat reader is right, those things are beyond my control lol. but according to those devices, i'm 208.8 and about 9% body fat when I eat breakfast.
I read anything under 12% is "healthy" and anything less than 5 is unhealthy. So my goal is about 6 or 7. I was happy when it was at 7.5 but then i had no more goal, so I started aiming for five, then i quit the gym. im not in fantastic shape, ive been called skinny but i dont consider myself skinny. i would consider myself skinny before i would fat though.
6'3" and 202 [my usual weight] isnt bad, but i have very high expectations of myself, i am my biggest critic. if i dont aim for very high goals, then i fail. when i try to dunk a basketball, i dont aim for the rim, i am trying to touch the top of the backboard. "shoot for the moon, and even if you miss you will still land among the stars"

my ideal weight would be about 180-185. i know basketball players my height and shorter that way more than me [baron davis and steve francis, to name a few.] but i know allen iverson is 6' and 165, i dont wanna be that small, but close.

Cardio isn't good for weight loss either, it's for stamina. You need to reach and attain a certain heart rate. The bikes in my gym measure your heart rate and show a graph of function telling you whether you're doing cardio or weight loss.
i use the elliptical machine, treadmill and bikes on the 'weight loss' setting, and try to keep my heart rate at the weight loss setting [my gym must have similar machines to yours] which is usually between 112-136 for my heart rate, when i go around 139 it turns to cardio.

I do lift weights, just not like i used to. I was lifting with a friend and his goal was to get HUGE. He literally wanted to look like Ronnie Coleman [look him up on youtube if you dont know who he is, unbelievably big] and i wanted to look like kobe bryant lol. so our exercises werent compatible. he was tryin to bulk up, i was tryin to get cut. so i started lifting lighter weights, but doing tons and tons of reps, about ten times more reps than i was doing with the heavier weights. i figure, there is fat over my muscles and thats why i cant see them, maybe i'm wrong cuz i really dont know. i figure if i just load up on cardio, i'll lose the fat then get the definition i want. bad idea?

well ive started workin out again, and tailored my diet away from losing weight and toning up, now i plan on building muscle. i definitely have a body more apt to body building than slimming down. my new diet is fuckin disgusting by the way.

my breakfast goes as follows:
1 cup of oatmeal, no milk, no salt. jjust sugarless oatmeal and water
a slice of avocado, for "good" fat
1/2 cup of egg whites
and soy milk.

using "breakfast drinks" for in-between meal snacks, its pretty much like a protein shake.

lunch, chicken and salad

another snack, protein bar.

dinner, chicken and salad OR broiled fish and apples.

another snack, protein shake.

its rough but hopefully it pays off in the end. ive also started lifting heaver weights again instead of the light weights i used to do. the reason i wasnt losing weight is because i was doin only cardio, then no weight training. so i was losing about 5 pounds a session according to the scale, but then since i wasnt lifting weights, i wouldnt maintain the weight loss so it would come right back before the days end.
