No, I rarely think of you. It wasn’t meant to diss you.
How convenient of you to say that.

I find it difficult to understand how would you know if he is motivated or not.
He went to go visit the Brazilian team. He even stated that he wanted to play with them again.

He is also training again, so naturally one would assume that there is at least SOME motivation there since he is training again.

Not to mention that the Confederation Cup is next summer and he probably wants to play. Not to mention that the World Cup is almost 2 years away. Not to mention that in 2014 Brazil will be hosting the World Cup.

I usually don't get annoyed, and I like Rahim, he's cool, but I feel like closing this shit.

Stick a fork in Ronaldo, he's done and has been done for a while. That AC Milan move was doomed to fail also, he scored a few, and that's that. He's too busy with everything else. The man has lived his carreer as one of the best, and he once was the best.
Ronaldo isn't done. Have some faith cuz he's obviously motivated enough to start training again and wants to join a club.

My prediction is Ronaldo will make a come-back but ONLY if he starts training again regularly.

Its just that this is like third time hes making a thread asking whether hes gonna play again or not. The general sense is that he is done playing. So I feel like theres no need to push the envolope and talk about him anymore. Its like people still say Pac is alive and will be back. Get over it.

He went to go visit the Brazilian team. .
Were you present there in your suit and a tie with nerd glasses taking down every word he was saying?

Not to mention that in 2014 Brazil will be hosting the World Cup..
Are you shitting me? Are you gonna say not only hes gonna play in 2010 but ALSO in 14?

I like you optimism attitude and all but dude, come on.

World Cup 2014 for Ronaldo is not going to happen in a million years.

By the time it's 2014, he's going to be 37-38. A striker's prime years are between 27 and 31 (big max 32) I'd say. So that idea is completely ridiculous, even God forbid he gets back to fitness, he will never be what he was, and will probably be on the bench and have 1 appearance like Oliver Kahn had in his last World Cup.

By 37-38, there is no more steam to go on. Keepers, some defenders and the very rare case of midfielders can do it. You're not as focused, resistant and endurant enough to keep up with the young guns.

Lastly, World Cup 2010, he will not get his opportunity if he doesn't find a club soon, get back to amazing fitness or even proves himself at his club. There is a very long lineup of more than capable strikers being able to fit the spot and do better than Ronaldo at the current time. You know bad of shape Ronaldo is in now? It's so bad that if I was Brazil's manager, I'd bring in Welliton from Spartak Moscow instead of him. lol.

Dunga is one of the best, and most respected managers in the World, he will not take someone who is a 2nd class striker who fucks trannies right now. If Ronaldo is brought along, call it a pity call up to end his amazing career as one of the best strikers of his time.

Although you make some good points, I don't actually think the strikers available to Brazil are as strong as years gone past. I posted in the other thread and only Fabiano imo is ready to head the attack. Oh and Adriano, but hes only just coming back.

^^i think Mourinho will get Adriano back to his best. Fabiano is a good player. Pato is a great prospect. But the likes of Sobis arent good enough. Didnt he join some team in Qatar? He is just a money grabber i reckon.

Who knows ROnaldo might be back for the next world cup. it would be great but i dont think it will happen. It will be like the Romario situation a few years back. Brazil have to plan for the future now.

I hope Adriano comes back, I loved watching him. Fabiano is good yeah. Pato, will he be ready to head the attack in 2010? Dunga has criticised him alot, even saying Sobis is better LOL...yeah Sobis sucks, his deal to go to UAE fell through I think.

Adriano is still in the roster so i'm sure he will be back.....unless they drop him...but i doubt that because via an interview he said that this is the year he comes back.

This is my prediction for Brazilian players to return and play at 2010 WC:

Ronaldo (80% chance to return at this moment - He is training and seems motivated enough. All he needs to do now is sign to a club and train hard)

Cafu (30% chance to return after he stated in an interview that he would not like to be called upon by Dunga in the 2010 World Cup unless it's needed)

Adriano (99% - is most likely to return because he said so via an interview and he is still part of the roster on the official website).

Roberto Carlos - (50% return chance - after he stated: "I feel fully fit to play and I would like to do it until I am 40," he concluded. Though he was talking about playing in a club, if called upon, i'm sure he wouldnt refuse to playing in the world cup.)

Rivaldo - (2% - I dont know?!?!?!)

Dida - (5% maybe?)

Ze Roberto (30% chance since he still is playing and could be called upon in 2010 WC)

Emerson (15% - I don't see him returning, but maybe..)

Who else am i missing?

Cafu retired from football.
right. but that still doesn't change the fact that he could be called upon if needed. sure its a slim chance, but if brazil isn't playing that well, and from the looks of it, they aren't. cafu would be a good choice.

obviously cafu wont be the first person that they call upon, but the smallest possibilities are still there of him playing.

^^no there is no chance in the world of him playing at the 2010 World Cup. Daniel Alves is Brazil's right back now. How can Cafu have any chance of playing if he is retired. They are hardly gonna bring a 40 year old retired footballer out to play in a World Cup. No matter how fit Cafu is, there is no way he will be up to the level required to play at the highest level in 2 years time if he hasnt played football in 3 years. There is no chance. Just accept it.

Ronaldo-Highly unlikely. He has just suffered another very serious knee injury. He wasnt fit before his injury so its unlikely that he will be fit after it. He will be 34 at the next World Cup. Its unlikely that Dunga will take a big risk by picking an ageing, injury prone, unfit striker (abeit a great one) for his 2010 World Cup squad. Ronaldo could easily pick up another just before the tournament thus ruling him out and leaving Brazil short a player for the tournament which amy leave them short should they reach the latter stages of the tournament.

Cafu- See what i posted above. absolutely zero chance.

Adriano- I reckon Mourinho will get Adriano back playing the way he did before all his problems. He is a top striker and should be playing at the 2010 World Cup provided he has put his personal problems behind him and is fully fit.

Roberto Carlos-Little chance. He will be 37 at the time of 2010 World Cup. I dont think he has played for Brazil since the 2006 World Cup. Not the same player he was as he is pushing on now. Then again Brazil seem to have a problem at left back. I saw them play against Chile and the left back they had in that game, Kleber didnt impress me. Marcelo of Real Madrid and Maxwell of Internazionale are other options. There is little chance of Carlos being recalled.

Rivaldo-lol. Not even a 0% chance. hmmm when was the last time a Kazakhstan based player got called into the Brazil squad lol. Rivaldo was a great player but his career started to fade out after he moved to AC Milan. Showed what he can do in the greek league but then again thats not the highest level of football.

Dida- Now why would they want this useless keeper in their squad. all he was ever good for was stopping penalties. ok he had some decent seasons for Milan but he had some bad ones too. Doni and Julio Cesar are far better keepers.

Ze Roberto- again little chance. will be about 36 or 37 when the next World Cup is on. He performed well at the 2006 World Cup in a poor Brazil team but he will be too old and Brazil have other options in midfield now.

Emerson-not a hope in hell. He is finished and has been since he left Juventus. i always thought he was over-rated anyway. only a squad player at AC Milan now.

Nearly all these players you mention are in the twilight of their careers. I dont get why you would to see them at the next World Cup. If Brazil pick some of them then they wouldnt have achance of winning the World Cup. They were top players when they younger and at their peak. You dont pick players based on past reputations.

btw, i forgot about Maicon. He is Brazil's first choice right back not Alves.

Ok, this shit is retarded. Bringing up old fucking players that have 0% of being in a World Cup. Rivaldo?! Are you fucking kidding me?

Only Adriano, like Bobby said, will come back to his old ways and Mourinho will see to that.

If you want to post news, post it in the "Football Thread" this doesn't deserve a thread of it's own.

Fucking hell.

Closed.

Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo focusing on knee, not future team

Saturday, September 20, 2008 - 4 hours ago

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — Ronaldo is just focused on rehabbing his knee, not what team he may play for in the future.

In an interview with The Associated Press and SNTV, Ronaldo downplayed recent comments that he would like to play for Manchester City or Paris Saint Germain.

"I'm fully concerned about my recovery, about making my knee 100 per cent," he said after a lengthy workout session. "I don't know where I'm going to be two months from now."

The 31-year-old three-time FIFA player of the year ruptured a tendon in his left knee in a Serie A match in February. He has been without a club since his contract with AC Milan expired in June, but recently said he would like to play in England or France.

"We've had some contact with Manchester City - I'm really interested, they're a great club," he said, although he declined to specify what type of contact he has had with the Premier League side.

Earlier this week, City officials said their interest in Ronaldo had faded after luring Brazilian star Robinho away from Real Madrid, along with the acquisition of Jo from CSKA Moscow earlier in the off-season.

For the past two weeks, Ronaldo has been training in Rio de Janeiro on the practice grounds of Flamengo, Brazil's most popular club and the team he cheered for while growing up.

The former Brazil striker - who is the all-time World Cup scoring leader - has been mocked in the Brazilian press for being overweight after being photographed during vacation in Ibiza.

In a Friday afternoon practice, he was visibly in better shape - but admitted he was still heavier than he would like. While not moving with the agility of a player fully recovered, Ronaldo was forcefully kicking the ball with both his right and left legs - something he has only been able to do in recent days.

Ronaldo said he would "like to return to the national team, if I can," but declined to comment on the performance of coach Dunga, who has come under intense pressure for the side's lacklustre results in World Cup qualifiers.

After winning so many awards, Ronaldo said his motivation for battling back from a severe injury was simple.

"After all the sacrifices I've made, I want to end my career on a high note," he said. "My big motivation is the love I have for football. This entire battle I'm enduring because of my injury will only be worth it when I return."
