Why would Creationism need to be "taught?" It doesn't require a textbook or hours of study. Here: God Created all life on earth a few thousand years ago. End of course. There's gonna be a quiz so study.

They are more than likely forcing her to marry this guy. So it will look good to all the bible thumping faggot voters and so it will be politically correct. You think this 18 year old hockey player kid want's to get married? I doubt it. All that's going to happen is the divorce rate will just be even more fucked up.
he is. his myspace page before Sarah Palin was chose as VP stated he didn't want kids and that he was going to vote for Obama.

PALIN ADMITS HER 17-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER IS PREGNANT

By SAMUEL GOLDSMITH and CLEMENTE LISI

September 1, 2008 --

The unwed 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin is pregnant - a revelation the Alaska governor made public today to refute rumors spread by liberal bloggers that she had faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her daughter's earlier one.

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned," the Palin family said in a written statement.

"As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support."

Palin and her husband, Todd, said their daughter plans to marry the child's father - who sources said is Levi Johnston - and that both "are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family."

Johnston, 17, who is entering his senior year at Wasilla HS, plays on the school hockey team and was once teammates on a youth squad with Palin's older brother, Track, 19, who is now in the Army.

Despite suffering a cracked bone in his shin last season, Johnston scored 24 goals in 24 games.

"We don't want to talk about this," said a woman who answered the phone at the Johnston home.

On his MySpace page, Johnston boasts, "I'm a f - - -in' redneck" who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.

"But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some s- - - and just f - - -in' chillin' I guess."

"Ya f - - - with me I'll kick [your] ass," he added.

He also claims to be "in a relationship," but states, "I don't want kids."

Campaign officials said McCain knew of the pregnancy when he picked Palin last week as his running mate.

Bloggers had infuriated the McCain campaign over the weekend after airing rumors that Palin's 4-month-old son was actually her daughter's baby.

McCain campaign officials said Bristol's pregnancy was made public in order to counter what one aide called "mudslinging" that has circulated on blogs like Daily Kos.

According to postings on Daily Kos, Sarah Palin allegedly faked a pregnancy and pretended to give birth in April to Trig, who has Down syndrome.

The McCain campaign said Bristol Palin is five months pregnant and that Trig was born on April 18, making the rumor's timing impossible.

Palin would be due just a few weeks before Inauguration Day in January.

In a posting on Sunday, Daily Kos said, "Sarah needs to honestly answer for her lies - promptly."

Palin's governor-office spokesman Bill McAllister denied the rumors, while McCain adviser Mark Salter said the campaign announced the daughter's pregnancy to rebut them.

"Sen. McCain's view is this is a private family matter. As parents, [Sarah and Todd Palin] love their daughter unconditionally and are going to support their daughter," said McCain campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt.

During a brief news conference today, Democrat Barack Obama said his campaign would not make the pregnancy an issue.

Appearing at a Labor Day event in Monroe, Mich., Obama said, "My mother had me when she was 18. And how family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn't be the topic of our politics."

Pretty much.

But seriously, if you believe in creatonism you are not intelligent. You may be good at what you do but you are not intelligent.

I mean god created the earth and everything on it 5000 years ago, yet we can carbon date rocks from 4.2 billion years ago. Oh wait, god meant for it to be like that.

I'm not saying religion is for idiots (although this is debateable), just that creationism is.
okay so the measurement of a day used to be judged by the sun.. god didnt create the sun until the third day, right? so before the sun, what was the measurement of a day? an hour, twenty four hours, or 4 billion years? religion has its fucked up parts, but its faith that fills that in.

The argument is that they want creation taught in a SCIENCE class.
not everyone gets exactly what they want. if the fuckin school system will put it in some bullshit class it will pacify the religion nuts enough. they're taking everything religious out of school to baby the atheists, so why not give the faithful something in return?

Running it 20 million in debt for a town of 8000 is pretty bad though.
running the nation BILLIONS in debt also isnt very good. shame on bush. shame on republicans. and mccain will just be the sequel to what is the bush era.

If you bombarded kids with every "view" out there, they wouldn't leave school until age 60.
have u noticed kids arent very smart these days? some of them need to be in school a few more years.

holy fuckin shit.

Before I spend another great and easy work day responding to people I want to suggest one thing. Check out the website Factcheck.org. It is non-partisian and probably the best website for information to get past all the spin to deliver facts and plenty of sources to back them up.

With that said, I think you all should read this...
FactCheck.org: Sliming Palin

which also appeard in a Newsweek article from yesterday (Newsweek is hardly a conservative voice)
Factcheck.org: Sliming Palin | Newsweek Politics: Campaign 2008 | Newsweek.com

She did not cut funding for special needs programs. She increased them.

She did not fire a that librarian for not banning a book. In fact the person continued to work there well into Palin's administration.

And she has not pushed for teaching creationism.

Happy reading gents.

Your comment is very ignorant. Try looking harder next time and you will see that it takes McCain on pretty hard. Very hard to believe that you read every article just on the front page within 5 minutes. I guess you missed the articles that discredit McCain ads attacking Obama and speeches at the RNC convention that were misleading attacks towards Obama.

But thank you for adding your wonderful, yet ignorant, comments to the conversation.

well i never said she fired the librarian, i said she tried to fire her, under the banner that she wasn't fully supporting the mayor's office but backed off after the public outrage at the idea. so she would have fired her if she could have, what's the difference really?

and for once (well every once in a while it happens) i agree with you puff. Casey, your comments add nothing to the discussion and sounds more like an unintelligent rant. if you want to make comments make sure you know the facts and don't just spew out the usual Obama loving, McCain hating tripe.

and i see a few people mentioning here that when it comes to voting they base their decision on personality of the candidate, not their politics. well when you think about it, that's pretty stupid isn't it? why would you elect someone for the highest and most important office in the country, when you don't even have a clue what they're gonna do when they get there? all a politician has to do is play nice, get your vote, and then turn around and screw you once he's in office. you need to put a little more thought behind your votes than that i think.

If you read the article, she did fire her but then re-hired her a day later. The article goes into greater detail as to why and may clear up what you are asking. I'm not gonig to explain simply because I am trying to encourage you and others to actually read and not be a Casey Rain and claim to have reviewed the site when it is obviously you(not directing this to you Devious, just speaking in general) clearly have not. If you have read than I apologize, I just didn't get the impression yet that you read the area of the article.

see though, the only problem with the article is that they can only report what they know about the situation. it's almost impossible for us or the people at factcheck.org to know what the true motivations were. i can't say what her real motivations were, obviously i'm not a mind reader, but firing people as a test of loyalty? i've never heard of such a practice and i find it rather hard to swallow. the fact is though that after the librarian and other department heads were asked to resign, there was a public outcry from the citizens of Wasilla, and they were rehired. whether or not the "loyalty test" was the cause of the rehiring, or the rage from the citizens, i guess we'll never know for sure. but seriously, firing someone as a test of loyalty? that just doesn't make sense to me. something isn't right there.

but this is what happens with misinformation, people get misled and believe damn near everything they read, especially if they don't like the person, they'll believe just about any bad thing they read about them. i believed the Palin/librarian story because i heard it from so many sources, and you know, i still do think it's possible because i just can't buy that explanation. but if someone tomorrow wrote an article about how George Bush is a Satanist and used the Oval Office for ritual sacrifices and black magic ceremonies, do you know how many people would believe it? LOL. beware of what you read or hear people, especially on the internet.

i'm actually glad you posted that article there puff, i don't have the time now, but some of the stuff i read there gave me a whole other list of potential problems i have with her. but so you know, i don't know about anyone else's motivations in this thread, but i'm not out to attack Palin at all, as has been said, we don't really know anything about this woman, so i have no reason to attack her. but i just happen to think that McCain made a terrible (and terribly ironic) choice by picking her for all the wrong reasons.

i also want to say, even though i've said it before, although i hate his politics, i actually really like John McCain. he seems like a genuine, honest person (well, as honest as a politician can get) who truly believes he knows what is best for the country. i completely disagree with him, but it's still nice to see a politician who doesn't seem to be only out for himself.

I don't see how asking a librarian to censor books and then firing her is a test of loyalty? Sounds like the Bridge-To-Nowhere deal, when there's a fuss about it drop it and forget what you did before.

Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. Healthy debate is so important and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both. And you know, I say this too as the daughter of a science teacher. Growing up with being so privileged and blessed to be given a lot of information on, on both sides of the subject – creationism and evolution. It's been a healthy foundation for me. But don't be afraid of information and let kids debate both sides.
As said earlier, why don't we teach holocaust denial in history class then? Flat earth theory in geometry? It would be a waste of tax payers money and students time.
