Sorry if this is a stupid question but why is it called GTA 4?Wasnt Vice City the 4th installment in the GTA series? Then there was San Andreas so does that not make the new one GTA 6? Or do the first 2 games not count?Im just a little confused by this.Cant wait to get this game.

Omg, can you believe this shit? Three days until it comes out and my x-box breaks. I turn in on and it gives me the three red lights of death.

Hahah I never really thought about that but you're right. This is like GTA 7.

yeah, VC and SA weren't considered true sequels to GTA III because they continued the storyline of GTA III, it is seen like a trilogy. they waited until they finished all the old storyline threads to start a whole new storyline, hence GTA IV.

GTA & GTA 2 have all 3 cities in the one game. GTA III was split into 3 parts as to have all 3 cities in one game would have been impossible, also changing the time lines adds a bit more to the story.

I'm pretty sure we will see GTA:IV Vice City & San Andreas.

GTA London = worst gta :p

Anyway what cities were present in gta 2?
Maybe gta4's add ons will take place in gta2 cities.

Altho I remember reading that there won't be any gta4 add ons except some downloadable additional missions.

Rumors are running wild that GTA’s next outing, yes, the next outing after GTA IV will be set in the washed-up avenue of Vice City in 2009. Only a year after GTA IV? Well, it could be possible, look at GTA Vice City, that was released a year after GTA III but whether or not it’s possible with the new hardware and technology now is unknown. A Belgian site, who started this entire rumor told readers that they received a release schedule for Take Two in 2009 with a paragraph about the next GTA supposedly coming Autumn 09′, presumably after GTA IV. This is the paragraph below:

“Grand Theft Auto Sequel (Not Announced): Find Vice City, plagued by corruption and decadence. Your case is being undermined by the local police, your mission is to rebuild the bar and to reaffirm at the head of the city of one thousand colors.”

i very much doubt they would do another Vice City and San Andreas, because it's already been done but it's possible they will do the same as they did with those games and have several GTA4-related games in new cities.

So has Liberty City in GTA 3 but Liberty City is now more like New York. I wouldn't mind new games based in a modern Vice City and San Andreas with next gen graphics. Vice City took place in the 80's and San Andreas in 92/93.

i hear you but at the same time i think the creators and the fans will get tired of the same cities over and over again. we can all speculate but i'm betting the only sure way to get an idea of what will be next will be to play GTA IV and see what's revealed, if any other cities or places are mentioned, etc. i just have this feeling that they won't want to continue to use the same cities again and again.

also, and i'm sure most people won't agree with me on this, i find it kind of strange that they totally redesigned Liberty City so it's a whole new place. shouldn't it at least bear some resemblance to what it looked like in GTA III? that would make a lot more sense than making it like a whole new city, since it's only supposed to have been what, 7 years between GTA III and IV. it will be cool to have a whole new city to explore but at the same time it's kinda dumb that they did it this way.

All the cities in GTA are parodies of real cities as most know. Now they can take it to the next level with more realism. There are parts of GTA 4 that remind you of the old Liberty City. It would only make sense to revamp the whole thing for a new game.

but it still doesn't make sense to me to change the entire layout of the city. i mean if you went to New York one year, and then went back 6 or 7 years later you wouldn't expect it to look like a whole new city would you? it's like making a sequel to a movie with the same actors but all playing different characters. it wouldn't make much sense, and it doesn't make much sense here either imo. but i understand why they did it this way.

I'm definately down with seein a brand new Vice and San. I least favorite GTA is III because I didn't like the new york vibe, but I'm hyped as hell to be spendin all summer and fall playin' GTA4. I love Cali so I can't wait for that state to be re-implemented in GTA6.

New Palm Trees and Smog and Casinos and Westcoast slang, ahhhh

Yeah, well this is a game, not real life :) So it makes sense, that's how games roll.
well i know, and like i said i understand why they did it this way. but we all talk about how realistic this game is right? but doing this steps back from reality in a way i think, whereas if they updated the old Liberty City layout with some new building s and whatnot and left the layout and most of the city the same but more modern, it would make more sense realistically. but it probably wouldn't be as much fun to explore since you'd already know the ins and outs of the city.
