American President Candidates

Outside of all the hype of Obama (b/c he'd be the first Black president) and Clinton (first woman president) nonsense. I think we're missing out on a great Democratic candidate...
Dennis Kucinich.

He has some really good ideas, no way of knowing if he'd follow through with them or not.

But I like his ideas of keeping jobs in America, making the laws more strict to keep the environment clean, his anti-animal farming (puppy mills) idea, supporting local farms and organic food, a new reform for immigration, legalizing same sex marriage and making abortion a choice while lowering the abortion rate through teaching safe sex instead of abstinence amongst other things.

I don't think he's going to do well amongst the more religious crowds but overall I think he has awesome ideas and is a really good candidate.

What do you guys think about him or the other candidates in general?

Puff? AM?

the big problem with this election (pretty much any election) the media only focuses on certain individuals i.e. obama, clinton, rudy, romney etc

there are plenty of other people running that do not get air time at all like ron paul or chris dodd. people talk about obama being the first black president but alan keyes, a black man, is also running butyou would never know it thanks to the media only giving attention to whom they would like.

since this is a thread about presidential candidates, what does everyone think about john edwards having a love child on the way?

Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul are the best candidates by far. Of course, that means they haven't got a chance. Just like Ralph Nader didn't have a chance. These are people who are not afraid to stand up for things knowing that it will cause them not to be elected because the American people will not probe deep on any issue. And that's why Hillary will be the next President.

I'm usually between Obama, Paul and Kucinich. Obama sold me with The Audacity of Hope, even though I think Dreams of My Father is good too. The thing that gives Obama the edge for me is a lot of people can't and don't take Ron Paul or Kucinich serious, it's hard to truthfully, and I see Obama being able to make things actually happen instead of talking about it. But then critics of Obama claim the opposite so ...yeah.

I know it's going to be either Obama or Hilarry.

Personally if i had to choose between those 2 i am hoping it'll be Hillary because who knows some of Bill might have rubbed off on her. Not Monica Lewinsky style.

You know what i mean.

Anyway, it would be a good boost for the American Economy.

that is actually what scares most people that are familiar with clinton while he was in office. and not just what cnn tells people about him as president.

what would hillary do for the economy? people in upper state new york have been suffering from the same shit she said she was going to fix during this term she is currently holding as senator.

WARNING! this following picture is scary

Fuck Hillary, I'll be really upset if she becomes President. If she was a man people would be calling for to resign from the candidacy race.

The only problem with the guy I mentioned is that he's not getting enough media attention like Obama and Clinton.

Personally, I don't think either one would make a change at all with how the government is ran... both have these huge images that they have to uphold. People are going to constantly critique them and wait for them to fuck up b/c they are the "1sts" and what that's going to do is leave us with a president who's trying to please everyone and isn't getting anything at all accomplished, i think.

Well let's be realistic here she is going to win. Hands down. She has raised more money than anyone else and she has experience under her belt unlike Obama. Ron Paul sounds like a good Candidate although i don't see eye to eye with all the issues. He would probably be the best choice but regardless we all know someone like him never has a chance. Just look how they bash and laugh at him in the main stream media even though he wins ever internet poll. They ridicule him istead of being unbiased. This election was decided long before people voted.

Now i am saying at least Hillary won't be a second Bush. Even though Bill has his faults you gotta give him some credits for the good things he has done. What are the good things that came out of the Bush administrations?

Bottom line is it can't get any worst. Imagine Rudy wins.

In my opinion, whoever wins now will have at least two terms.

In the first term nothing much will happen as they play it safe because as someone mentioned everybody will be waiting for them to fuck up, so I expect some safe moves regarding Iraq, etc etc.

But by the second term I think they will begin to make a lot of changes, perhaps not for the best, but still changes none the less.

The next President, whether Hillary or Obama, will go down in History. I mean, 500 years from now people will remember them. They will get holidays in their names, etc etc etc. No one wants to be remembered as the first Black President or the first Female President that did NOTHING. Books will be written about these people, classes will be taught, and they are aware of this, so for that matter alone, I think they will try to live up to the hype so to speak.

a lot of hillarys money that she has "raised" is questionable. the first quarter she transfered 10 million from her senate re-election campaign so dispite what the media said she really didn't beat obama in fund raising. then there is the countless of number of people from china town in new york that have donated 1000-2000 dollars. these are people that make 1500 or less a month, live in shitty conditions, and they donate a whole months salary or more? haha right...
i've also heard that a few of her "donatoins" have come from some people who are dead. i've still yet to see a major media outlet report on it. and you wont either. cnn is notoriously biased towards hillary and the clintons. hillary could shoot rudy dead on live tv and cnn would report it as "hillary performs pest control". murdoch has paid out tons of money to her.

honestly, there is a big chance that if she is nominated she might lose. i think the media is underestimating how many people actually cannot stand this woman. her base is mostly "the view" crowd i.e. high school educated or less stay at home house moms. most college educated woman do not like her.

i often wondered why so many big figures in the republican party were telling everyone she is giong to win. it's not that they want her to win. it's that they want to scare people into thinking she could actually win so they don't vote for her.

as for her experience. what experience? she has done nothing. obama has helped pass more legislation than she has. can you name one bill she has wrote? can you really name any accomplishments she has in the senate?

i like ron paul but i dont like how he lied on the glenn beck show the other night on cnn. when asked about the 9/11 troofers movement he said he wasn't aware of any of these conspiracies but yet has been on the alex jones show like 3 times. that was a big flat out lie.

if by good things from the clinton years you mean a controlled media, accusations of rape, murdering members of your own cabinet, spying on the other political party, and countless of other scandals that most people arent even aware of.

what has bush accomplished? well lets see what historians will look at,
Banned Partial Birth Abortion — by far the most significant roll-back of abortion on demand since Roe v. Wade.

Reversed Clinton's move to strike Reagan's anti-abortion Mexico Policy.

By Executive Order (EO), reversed Clinton's policy of not requiring parental consent for abortions under the Medical Privacy Act.

By EO, prohibited federal funds for international family planning groups that provide abortions and related services.

Upheld the ban on abortions at military hospitals.

Made $33 million available for abstinence education programs in 2004.

Requires states to conduct criminal background checks on prospective foster and adoptive parents.

Requires districts to let students transfer out of dangerous schools.

Requires schools to have a zero-tolerance policy for classroom disruption (reintroducing discipline into classrooms).

Signed the Teacher Protection Act, which protects teachers from lawsuits related to student discipline.

Signed two income tax cuts, one of which was the largest dollar-value tax cut in world history.

Supports permanent elimination of the death tax.

Turned around an inherited economy that was in recession, and deeply shocked as a result of the 9/11 attacks.

Increased small business incentives to expand and to hire new people.

Initiated discussion on privatizing Social Security and individual investment accounts.

Killed Clinton's "ergonomic" rules that OSHA was about to implement; rules would have shut down every home business in America.

Passed new laws to hold corporate criminals to account as a result of corporate scandals.

Reduced and is working to ultimately eliminate the estate tax for family farms and ranches.

Provided $20 million to states to help people with disabilities work from home.

Created a fund to encourage technologies that help the disabled.

Increased the annual contribution limit on Education IRA's from $500 to $2,000 per child.

Make permanent the $5,000 adoption tax credit and provide $1 billion over five years to increase the credit to $10,000.

Grant a complete tax exemption for prepaid or college tuition savings plans.

Announced "Jobs for the 21st Century," a comprehensive plan to better prepare workers for jobs in the new millennium by strengthening post-secondary education and job training, and by improving high school education.

Requires annual reading and math tests in grades three through eight.

Requires school-by-school accountability report cards.

Established a $2.4 billion fund to help states implement teacher accountability systems.

Challenged the United Nations to live up to their responsibilities and not become another League of Nations (in other words, showed the UN to be completely irrelevant).

These are just a few things that historians will judge him on as president not to mention the millions of new jobs created every year and despite the media reports on the "bad and scary" economy, the govt reports, including one that came out today, say something much different.

but what does bush have to do with this thread? ;)

if you really think that hillary can't be worse than bush LMAO at that. you seriouslly need to read up on the clintons and start paying closer attention to their actions and words. even some of the biggest bush haters can admit hillary is much worse

That's a good point. I was thinking it would be the opposite though, they'd be so worried about "messing up" and everyone's going to be waiting on them to make a mistake that they'll just be really neutral and not make any major decisions at all.
