^^its got really mixed reviews. Some magazines give it really high scores like 10/10 and then others give it an average rating.

I will just have to play through it myself but if the game its anything like the size of Elder Scrolls-Oblivion then i dont have time lol

I guess it's smaller but the ingame environment is much more depressing - my mind state gets pretty fucked after playing it for a longer time.

I already made a thread about it but it's worth mentioning here.

Doesn't that remind you something?

This is amazing. An original Sega Saturn Shenmue gameplay. Picture how crazy it would be if it was released in the mid 90's. It's crazy that the second shenmue was already finished by that time. Unbelievable.

yeah, I remember when I was about to buy me a Sega Saturn but everybody had a PSX and they convinced me into buying one instead too.
A year or two later the Saturn flopped.

The Saturn was actually a good console at the start but Sega wanted to charge £400 for it when it was first released and then the Playstation launched at £300.

When I bought my psx both were at the same price. People said that PSX is better at 3d and will have better games. I wanted Saturn for sega rally, daytona usa and dreams. I feel a bit guilty for not buying Saturn but then again it was a good decision. I played it with my friends a lot.

They eventually bought the price down. If i was able to get one of them back then, i would have got a Saturn. Im glad it was so expensive so i couldnt get it. I never got a playstation either though

Hey Casey (I recon you're the only Shenmue fan visiting this section).

Sega is releasing a new game - "Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing".

Some characters are still unrevealed and there's a fun game on Sega's official Twitter :
http://twitter.com/SEGA

Sega have been posting a "fill in the blanks" phrase on their blog and on their Twitter feed. With 2 more letters added each day. The phrase when completed will hint at the identity of one of those characters.

Yesterday that's what the phrase was reading:
O------ I- R--- ---- D----- M----- M-- A----- C----- -- R-----Y

The rumour going around the internets is that the solution is:
Quote:
Objects In Rear View Dragon Mirror May Appear Closer In Reality
We both know what that means :D
Today Sega added 2 letters so it's:

O-----S
I-
R---
V---
D-----
M-----
M--
A----R
C-----
--
R-----Y

And it still fits! That would be fun to see a next-gen Ryo even if it's a stupid racing game.
I can already picture Ryo riding a forklift :p

RYO!!!!!!!! YES!

I refuse to give up hope for Shenmue 3.

Hopefully Sega did this because they really want to keep the character alive and not just to make us Shenmue fanboys shut up for a short while.

I'm so tempted to pull out my DC and play Shenmue, and Shenmue 2 DC version with the Japanese audio and English subtitles.

I have Shenmue 2 xbox version as well with the English audio, but my motherfucking xbox doesn't read discs anymore.....don't understand how my 5/6 year old xbox doesn't work properly but my 10 year old DC does.

DC = best motherfucking console ever made.

A few weeks ago I grabbed my DC to play Shenmue and I literally couldn't stop once I got hooked again. I took a lot of time playing and it still seems almost as awesome as back in the days - it doesn't get old and is still way better than video games coming out lately.

Also it's awesome that playing it over again for the 3rd time I encountered totally new things, saw new places and also found fights and QTE's I haven't seen before. It's unbelievable how everything depends on your choices and where and when you are as you can encounter so many things only in a specific time at a specific location. Like if you are elsewhere something totally different happens or you just miss it. A random QTE with a random bum at night or going on a date with that Nozomi chick, calling her - the first time I played I ignored her and missed at least a gameworthy amount of cutscenes and conversations. And that's just one of many characters there.
It still amazes me. Hard to believe that it's a 10 year old game and still there's nothing like Shenmue.

My first Xbox also doesn't work anymore but now I'm going to start Shenmue 2 on my xbox360 since it reads games from the original Xbox (but yeah, it's not the same). I've passed it only once and the whole 'ending' was the most epic thing I've ever seen outside of our reality.
It will definately not be as good as the first time and Shenmue is really time consuming but I still want to play it again.

I've been wanting to play it again for a while. Haven't played either game through for at least 3 years now. Reason I haven't is basically because of what you alluded to - it takes over your whole life. It's for sure not the kind of game I can sit down for an hour and play....if I start playing I'll be playing for 3 or 4 hours at a time. It just completely draws you into it's world, it's almost like it's you living Ryo's life, no matter how many times you play through it and even though you know what happens in the main storyline.

It's still the greatest game I've ever played. I've never experienced anything else like it. And yeah, like you said - even though I've played through each game like 4 or 5 times, I have no doubt that I'd still find new things, new people, new QTE's, new little sub-plots.

Can't believe you ignored Nozomi the first time though. I was trying to get Ryo to tap that ass lol. I'll take Joy from Shenmue 2 over Nozomi though lol. Now that is one fine ass chick.

And what about that other girl from Shenmue 2 - the really young teenage one that has a crush on Ryo. I forget her name - the assistant of Xiuying. Apparently there's some subplot where Ryo gets her a present for her birthday and she tells him she's in love with him or something, but it's really hard to pull off. You have to meet her at specific times in specific places and do all the things in the right order to make it happen. I reckon there's a few things like that. I also heard of some massive arcade in Shenmue 2 but I don't think I ever found it. I found some smaller ones with Afterburner and some other games.

There's so many of those fucking tall ass buildings in Kowloon in Shenmue 2 !!! I reckon there's a bunch of stuff in those that I haven't discovered before.

The games are just epic. SEGA seriously need to pull their fucking finger out and make Shenmue 3 already. I need to get Ryo out of that cave and avenge Iwao Hazuki's death dammit.

I reckon that martial arts guy with the mask from Shenmue 2 that you have to fight in that one part in the basement of that building has something to do with the Chi You Men. Also I think Master Chen will show up in Guilin once Ryo gets out of the cave. And where the fuck is Shenhua's dad? Who the fuck is Lan Di really, and why did Iwao Hazuku kill his dad or whatever?

I want Tom the rasta hot dog truck guy to come back too.

Too many unsolved questions. Arrrrrggghhhhhhhh need Shenmue 3!!!

Oh yes I want to know all that too!
Probably something epic would happen in that cave or soon after leaving it. I know Lan Di was there just before Ryo got there, just like in Kowloon. Also I always thought that the tiger move from that Chinese scroll has to be really epic.

I wonder if Ryo would really kill Lan Di at the end. Maybe he'll meet Lan Di's son at some point and realize that he doesn't want to do what Lan Di has done lol.
After all maybe Lan Di wasn't all that evil before since Chi You Men generals don't seem to be genuinly bad, they just turn bad because their life turns into a one big vengeance mission. Remember Ziming? Xiuying brother that was in her flashbacks that left her to search revenge for their parents that were killed? He's also a Chi You Men General.
There's also a boss of the Chi You Men which is yet unknown. There are so many mysteries about that game and I so want to play Shenmue 3 ehh

Yeah I think Ziming will definately show up. I actually think he will fight his sister, that would be epic. Yeah the tiger move has to be something awesome. You know what move I love the most though - that double spin one where he does the sweeping roundhouse and then spins it into the jumping kick. That one was the shiznit.

Yeah I don't think Ryo would actually end up killing Lan Di either but he would bring him to justice in some form and bring down the whole Chi You Men organisation.
