Shenmue 2 was even better than the first. Just, incredible. It sucked you in and became a part of your life, it's more of an experience than a video game, I'd say.

Which is why god damn Yu Suzuki needs to make the third one!!!!!!

I have it on the xbox and on Dreamcast. Dreamcast Shenmue II was only ever released in UK and Japan and was in Japanese audio with English subtitles.

xbox version had english audio.

my xbox broke though. but apparently its on the list of backwards compatible games for the xbox360 but is slightly buggy from what I have heard. Maybe its time I got a 360.

SHENMUE = BEST VIDEO GAME EVER

Don't know about the best video game ever, you must not have played many games, but still a great title.

Shenmue 3 was cancelled long ago, I'm still hoping they will release a third soon, some rumors even say it's been in dev for some time.

I've played millions of video games. (not literally but at least a thousand!!). My favorites:

1. Shenmue II
2. Shenmue I
3. Toejam & Earl 1 & 2 (on the Megadrive, the 3rd one on xbox sucked)
4. Michael Jackson's Moonwalker
5. House of the Dead series
6. Super Mario Kart (SNES)
7. Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast)
8. All other Sonic games

Mate that's a funny list but I respect your opinion, I can name at least 25 games off the top of my head right now that are better than Shenmue

Like....?

In terms of fun I had whilst playing, quality of game play, quality of graphics, overall experience, Shenmue II is simply the greatest. It seriously had a major impact on my life for a long time after I played it. And I played it through it three or four times and discovered new shit each time, then I looked at some detailed walkthru's/FAQs and there's STILL a LOT more stuff in there that I never discovered. It's just quality.

In honour of Shenmue, here's a funny Shenmue cartoon I found:

Not a fan of Final Fantasy, MGS bored the shit out of me, and Ocarina of Time was nowhere near as good as A Link To The Past (the best Zelda game!).

I've played a few of those other games but don't really remember them. I don't like RPG's where battle's just consist of selecting stuff, like in Final Fantasy.

In Shenmue you actually get to fight everyone, and the fighting was based on the Virtua Fighter engine, which is what made those bits cool. That and the Q-T-E's.

Resident Evil games are just ridiculously complex. Code Veronica was my favorite.

Wow you are like a backwards gamer lol Ok man

Zelda link to the past what? Ocarina Of Time is the best Zelda created and I've played em all

Final Fantasy is just in another league compared to Shenmue

You played RE4? If you haven't, you really should, you'll soon change your mind

Link to the Past OWNS Ocarina of Time. It's the ultimate in Zelda-dom. 3D Zelda? Nahhhhhhhh

and Shenmue 1 & 2 own all 15 or however many Final Fantasy's there are (for the record, aside from FF7, the 2D ones were better)

Yeah I played RE4, it's good but I still like Code Veronica better.

Yeah I sorta agree with Pauly lol. I mean taste is like an asshole, but at the same time, most of those games aren't really that big or anything. I mean, Mario Kart, I can name so many games with both better graphics, story and gameplay. It's a fun game to play with a bunch of peple but to put it on the same list as Shenmue, I don't know, it doesn't seem right to me. You would have to be basing your opinion on the experience of playing the game when you played it back in the day, am I right?

Shenmue, on the sheer gameplay interaction world living expericne, shits on Final Fantasy and any other RPG.

Once you get into it, its almost like a Sims game with a story, you can do anything and everything. And the fighting mechanism is awesome. Its like what GTA would be if it were a serious RPG.

Plus for me, I like games set in real world environments. I rarely enjoy fantasy games.

Ocarina of Time was an awesome game and my fav in the Zelda series, but it really was a glorified extended Mario 64 type game with some RPG elements.
