Oh yeah vargas took no shit! Vargas is a beut, he may have lost most of his big fights but he's a warrior, no doubt.

Got to feel sorry for the lady who was between them, she was in the middle of two former world champs throwing blows.

Yawn, it was done for publicity becuase both these guys are washed up.

Boxing needs to do something to compete with MMA. Unfortunatly for boxing it will never be able to stand up to MMA.

Do you mean you think it was staged? I dont think that at all, mayorga has always been a nutter (Mayorga once made tasteless remarks about Cory Spinks's deceased mother) he gave Vargas a slap and Vargas reacted, plain and simple. Vargas warned Mayorga that he won't tolerate any insults from him like what he did to Oscar de la Hoya in their press conferences. Sure they both aint the fighters they were but the public would always be interested in watching these fighters get together. Aturo gatti obviously aint the fighter he was but we still love to watch him fight. A lot of people think De la hoya is washed up but he still took part in the biggest grossing fight in ring history a couple of months back.

There are plenty things happening in boxing at the moment to be excited about, the welterweight division for one,Mayweather/moseley/Margarito/cotto/hatton(when he moves up)

calzaghe-kessler is also gonna be a great fight.

The heavyweight division is obviously in a big slump.

It aint all doom and gloom.

Mayweather is a fucking bum as well, he really hasnt fought but maybe three top fighters in his career, and Oscar shouldnt even count becuase he is on the backside of his career.

Yes it was staged thats why they have promoters in boxing. Im telling you boxing is not respected like it was and its no where near as exciting as it was, you have champs refusing to fight real fighters like mayweather does all the time, becuase supposedly they wont draw him a big enough paycheck or he is too good for them, wtf man how do you know your to good for them if you dont get in the ring with them?

Then you got heavyweights fighting bums for title shots. I mean shit Wladimir Klitschko could be a great fighter but dude just doesnt seem to always be there when he gets into the ring. Meaning he doesnt seem to train for some fights and comes out all half assed. Now he came out and destroyed Lamon Brewster wich he should have done in the first fight but he slacked off and got a boot in his ass.

I love boxing but there are no real champions left, guys just fight for the money not for the pride of being the best and beating the best, mayweather is a fucking joke, his track record is not impressive, oscar has a more impressive track record. Sure oscar has lost many of those big name fights but he fights them unlike mayweather. N this whole retirement thing, get the fuck out of here, what a joke, some champion you are.

Mayweather dodges opponents out of the ring like he does when he is in the ring.

In Boxing I follow 3 boxers...

Felix Sturm (because he's bosnian believe it or not...thats his ring name... real name is Adnan Catic) who won the WBA middleweight title a few weeks back

Joachin Alcine who just won the super welterweight WBA title.

And Stipe Drvis, a croatian who won the light heavyweight WBA title in april

All the good fighting takes place in the lighter divisions now a days. Unfortunatly I only get to read about these fighters I rarley see them on tv. Course I dont have cable atm so pay per view is out of the question but even when I go to the local pub they don't even have boxing on unless is an espn classic or something huge like Mayweather and Oscar.

SicC im hardly a mayweather fan, but i do think your being harsh on the man, i mean he is a 5 weight division world champ! not many men can say that. He's fought some very good fighters along the way corley/castillo/jesus chavez/hernandez/judah/baldomir/manfredy/corales/gatti/de la hoya! Although i also belive this retirement crap is pathetic, he seems to be avoiding fighting magarito/moseley/cotto if he thinks he's as great as he says he is beat all these guys and hatton then il be a believer. His style bores the fuck outta me.

ok some of those fighters where past there prime they dont count.

He is definatly avoiding moseley and cotto and magarito. Its not harsh its true to be the best u need to man up and go out and be the best not talk about how u are the best, Ali use to talk but he sure the hell didnt backdown from a fight.
