Ok, I've had a look, and it will cost £8.26 a month for the rental of a private CS1.6 server.

I'm willing to pay this, however, I have no money now as I only start work again tomorrow. If some one is willing to pay for the first month, and you lot actually make having a server worthwhile, I will definatly pay every month after that.

The server will be private, that means it will be passworded, so it will be just us guys (or girls), so you wont be bothered by non-StreetHop members. It will be a 16 man server, that is 8 CT and 8 T, and will be situated in the US, I know this may sound lame for the Europeans, but a) its cheaper. b) the majority of Streethop is in the US. Also being only 16 man, lag shouldnt be too much of a problem.

I'm putting a poll on this page, if enough votes come in to do this, it will happen.

If you are willing to pay for this first month, please contact me. You will be granted permanant co-adminship of the server.

In order to play Cs you need Steam. Then you dl the game through that. All you need is a cd key and a e-mail to register. There are key gens everywhere so just google away.

You can also pirate steam version, it's really easy, or get a PacSteam already hacked. But renting a server is a stupid idea. Just like I said in the other thread it's better to use Hamachi, and it'd be free. It simulates LAN connection (p2p connection) so it would be better than a typical online, server based game.

A Lan connection would be an 567kbps Up stream at the max, a server will have a 50mb/Up stream connection. Thats the difference.

so it would work? but still kinda unfair for all the members who wont be able to play.
Yes, every one will be able to play, you will probly get a ping of about 80ms, which is what I get playing on German servers, and they play fine.

If you read the thread properly you would have understood this.

When I play on Polish servers I usually have ping at around 15-18ms which is the same as when I play with Japanese friends using Hamachi.. Simulated LAN connection is not the same as real LAN. Anyway 500kbps up is still enough for everybody I think. My connection is 4mbps download, 512kbps upload

no one has the right to complain at 60-80ms. yes you notice it, but if it affects your game THAT much, maybe you just suck. 80-100 is still highly playable, although i'll admit that with that much lag it can steal a little from the whole experience.

i am up for this.

Do you realise that 512kbps is what was consider broadband 6 years ago? No game server today could efficiantly run at that speed.
