I would like to hear your opinions on smoking Cigarettes.

Personally; I am for Smoking.

Why? Because it is our right as a human being to choose whether we smoke or not, the same as we have the right to choose what food we eat and what clothes we wear.

I understand that people choose not to smoke, for many different reasons, and I respect that. I would not smoke in an enclosed space, and at the end of this month, it will be illegal in the UK to smoke in an enclosed public space.

What I disagree with is people who force their opinions and view on others, and those trying to ban smoking all together.

What about those who get affected by 2nd hand smoke...

I'm all for pro-choice, but what if your choice affects the guy next to you?

Well that's where you have to be reasonable about it of course, hence why they are banning smoking here in the UK in pubs, clubs etc. I feel if you are outside you can't complain about second hand smoke, it's not like people are blowing it into your face, it quickly disperses in air.

Smoking rocks.

I say it is your right to smoke. But it should be your DUTY to not smoke in the presence of children and non-smokers, but especially children. I think it's tragic that parents smoke when pregnant and in the presence of kids.

Well puff fuck that road trip packs man, if u stopped u don't need them no more and it will be easier for you to keep it that way if you don't slip every now and then and remember your body of cigs.

Anyway. I don't smoke so I don't care too much.... if they'd ban it, ok fine - but I can't imagin a club without heavy smoke, just didn't happen until today so that would be a new experience.

After all, I agree that your "choice affects the guy next to you" we should think about our decisions and so I have no problem with bannin cigs in enclosed places, but there is a point that I don't understand about the whole discussion.... why is everyone so active when it comes to cigs? I mean u can easly find 10 people that would ban smoking in public or maybe even over all cause of that "2nd hand smoke"... but why only cigs? The dude that is drivin' around too fast with a too strong car for no reason at all affects my health and my whole fuckin' enviroment....what about this situation? If it's just to ban smokin, wouldn't it be just to ban drivin' without reason? (15 minutes walk is NO reason at all to take the car in my view) .....

I dunno, for many this might sound silly now....but think about it.... everybody seems to care about "affectin other people".... but only when it comes to cig, people don't seem to think that way as soon as it comes to other actions and that's strange - don't be a hypocrite.

I really don't understand why intelligent people smoke. Surely once you've got past the "look at me, I'm cool because I smoke" phase, you would realise that it's going to fucking kill you and you'd stop.

I think that clubs should be able to apply to have a "smoking license", so to speak....they should have to pay a small fee AND also get the consent of all members of staff.

My reasoning is this.....can you imagine a smoky jazz club with no smoke?

true and i agree but for me the cig was a way to keep me awake because i would do 15 hour road trips non stop except to piss, get gas, and eat. after about the 9th hour i would get real tired but the cigs would keep me awake during the early a.m. hours. mt.dew only works for so long and i dont drink coffee or red bull.

Did it ever cross your mind that we might enjoy smoking?

I personally enjoy it, I'm not addicted as I have stopped before, and don't NEED to smoke cigarettes. If I don't have them it's no big deal, in fact when I'm sick I don't smoke at all.

I'll stop smoking when I stop enjoying it.

And yeah, so smoking damages your lungs. Alcohol damages your liver. The key is taking everything in moderation. I don't smoke more than 4 cigarettes a day, ever, unless I have a gig that day.

Yes, but it also crossed my mind that people might be smart enough to realise that the 'pleasures' of smoking are far, far outweighed by the damage it does.

Or when you die of lung cancer, aged 42.

Smoking 1-4 cigarettes a day triples your risk of heart disease or lung cancer. "Light smoking" is still smoking, and it's still retarded.

Did it ever cross your mind that you might not fall into the "intelligent people" category?
Unfortunately for you, I do. I was put through a series of rigorous tests whilst in high school, namely to discover the purpose of my constant reckless behaviour and aggression, and disregard for all authoritarian figures. Through the tests, which were checked and validated by a number of mental health experts, they determined that I had a higher IQ than almost anyone else at my high school, including many people who have now gone on to study Higher Physics, Aeronautical Engineering and other highly intellectual subjects at Universities such as Oxford, and Cambridge, which I assume you have heard of.

These same tests also concluded that I had a severe lack of motivation for anything other than subjects that highly interested me, and also an extremely short attention span, supposedly caused by severe emotional trauma at a young age (which I'll verify), and exacerbated by Attention Deficit Disorder. I refused to acknowledge the ADD as they would have prescribed me Ritalin, which is known to cause chemical addiction later in life.

My intelligence level, and their belief that I could be controlled somehow, is the sole reason I didn't get expelled until the 5th year of high school, despite selling weed to the 2nd years, graffiti-ing the entire playground, clocking up more detentions and suspensions than any other student in the school's history, smoking cigars in my form room, setting lockers on fire, throwing sealed packs of 200 exercise books out of third story windows onto the road, freestyling in physics class about fucking the physics' teachers daughter, and, in the headmasters own words "having the school investigated by the police for [my] links with Jamaican drug gangs in Birmingham" - that one was because of my presence at a Birmingham party in which two girls were shot and killed that was all over the news here in the UK for a LONG time. That one was the last straw, and they let me go.

So since you were trying to insinuate that I smoke because I am unintelligent, I'd figure I'd throw ya the facts.

Yes, but it also crossed my mind that people might be smart enough to realise that the 'pleasures' of smoking are far, far outweighed by the damage it does.

What can I say, I'm an extremely hedonistic individual. Perhaps it's an artist thing. Bradley Nowell of Sublime attributed his entire creative output to his heroin use, as do many others. I suppose it depends on what your view of life is. Personally, I don't follow the notion that the point of life is to live as long and as healthily as you can and raise a brood of kids to continue your family name. Heart Disease and Lung Cancer are not on my list of concerns.
