That is amazing wish they would do that over here
lol turns out it's for a coffee-donut combo, not a dozen. The free dozen was with the purchase of another dozen, so basically 24 for the price of 12. I got those offers mixed up. Guess who was a sad panda upon realizing that.

I did finally look into some of the concerns people are having. The fear is because of mRNA?

The use of mRNA has been studied since the early 90s, if not late 80s? It showed promising results with tumor growth inhibition. This is exciting to me. Maybe I’m naive because we really don’t have a lot of information on the long term effects, but, this will lead to advances in immuno-oncology, right?
Yeah, I mean the research in to the basics of the vaccine was done long ago and was used for vaccines in the coronavirus family, like SARS and MERS. The one variable is the genetic code for the specific virus. Once you have that, it's plug and chug as far as making the vaccine goes.

I'm all for stupid people weeding themselves out of the population by refusing to get vaccinated and/or mask up. But there are people that genuinely can't handle getting vaccinated due to medical issues who would be at risk by those people too. Otherwise, I'm totally fine with people refusing the vaccine and putting themselves at risk because Facebook or Trump told them to do so. As I mentioned many months ago in this thread, people that have refused the vaccine should be given low priority at healthcare facilities.

In other news, Biden said in three weeks time, all adults would be eligible for the vaccine. I expect there to be a mad rush for the pharmacies at that point. I just saw my local grocery store (which has its own pharmacy) urging people to sign up for notifications on vaccine availability. I'd suggest contacting each pharmacy company within 50 miles and asking to be put on a list, be it CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, Meijer, etc. Walmart and Target too, since many of those have pharmacies.

It's been two months since my first dose and no weird issues yet. I think it was a year ago that the "oh shit" moment hit for most of us and we started stocking up on masks not knowing if they were legit, how long they'd last, and if there would be a shortage of them in the future. I think I ordered 12-15 10-pack of N95 masks for the clinic and was worried what we'd do if we ran out and there was a shortage to order more. It didn't turn out to be a problem but...it's been a year since then and not much has changed.

I’m scheduled for tomorrow. There were limited appointments at the hospital vaccine clinic.

I got my first dose of Astra Zeneca but it's been put on hold in Norway now, we had four cases of the clotting issue so far, and two of them died. So I'm guessing all of us that only got one Astra shot will get another vaccine instead as if we haven't gotten one.

I wonder, if I get one of the other ones plus my one shot of this one, if my coverage will be slightly better than it otherwise would have.

On top of that, Pfizer CEO came out and said that a third shot most likely will be necessary. ASS!

I'm still none the wiser as to when I can even get a first jab. Sucks because I really want to travel and I have the money to do it, instead I'm stuck here for who knows how long.

Anyone over 16 is now eligible. I think the US has held steady at 3 million shots per day for the past 14 days.

Europe's rollout of the vaccine has been worse than ours but it seems like their demand is still higher. I also read that demand in the US is expected to slow down soon due to the people that are holding out.

But it also might have something to do with insurance. When getting mine, I had to present my insurance card. It was "free" but still required insurance. Maybe that's what's holding many people back.

This happened about 20 mins away from me: https://wgntv.com/news/coronavirus/...d-19-vaccine-for-2nd-dose-at-aurora-marianos/

I really think the vaccine should have been administered in a hospital and not at grocery stores with pharmacies in them. Even my local Walgreens employs a few bums in the pharmacy section and I wouldn't trust them to be the ones giving the vaccine. Of course, I had to get a few done there late last year for tetanus, flu, and Hep C, but that's different from COVID.

Looks like India is getting boned by the virus, now. Or, it always had been but they kept it under wraps, which is more likely.

I agree they have probs kept it under wraps. I have read news reports of the rich fleeing thr country
I think they're all fleeing to UAE. I read it was UAE and that they have until Sunday to leave before flights stop. And they're gouging flight prices, naturally, to be $1000 one way to UAE. Also, private jets.

It makes me wonder how much worse more populous countries like China truly are. Or more densely populated areas, like Indonesia.

I think countries are getting hammered by their cultures rather than population densities. If in Japan or Korea it feels like you'd rather die than lose face getting contact traced to that you gave someone covid, it's going to have a very different effect than India where people think that violating safety rules somehow shows that they've got balls for being "above them".

The US is divided so first it got massacred because so many people thought that their jobs are more important than their lives, but then it's got the more sane scientific counterpart kick in to try to fix the boat from sinking.

I think you'll see the most deaths in places where your average citizen takes the virus and all precautions for granted.

Then another variable is how fast actions were taken - Australia and New Zealand locked themselves up and are all good. Then from what I heard everyone who dared to travel was almost socially outcasted.
