Can't particularly say I'm surprised Belgium won. When the tournament started I knew they would be getting far. It was just a matter of time till they get their shit together.
Brazil hasn't looked convincing all tournament imo. I'm happy they're out. The South Americans didn't have a very good showing this year, maybe Colombia looked the best... until that shit show against England. lol.

English fans are the worst. I’m at a pub and they boo their players when they miss and cuss them out. So bipolar. Relax.

Yeah I had Belgium picked as a possible winner when it started.

Croatia has surprised me though. And of course Russia.

Croatia really deserved it. It would be really awesome if they won the cup. Regardless, it's their first time in the finals. Frankly speaking, while England wasn't bad, Croatia was just better. Plus I hope France doesn't win.

It's hilarious that Youtube TV crashed during the game in many places, including whole North America - some people were trying to watch the games there, yet it was down most of the second half, where all of the interesting stuff happened.

just once in my lifetime i wanna see england win
Oh, are you English, or just a fan?

lol I didn't realize the "final" meant the actual World Cup. I thought this was just some qualifier tournament. I also don't know what that means.

I thought there would be more fanfare about the WC but I guess the US just doesn't care.

I know England sucked for a long time and the Croats just made it for the first time. But how did staple teams not make it as far? I know France is one of them but what about Brazil and Argentina? Italy and Germany? Portugal? It seems like they're always in talks of winning it all whenever the WC comes around but all I've heard about is England and Croatia both being Cinderella teams.

I honestly thought these were random face-offs which would determine seeding in like a Sweet 16 bracket or something.

God soccer is weird.

The World Cup was the whole thing, from the last month's group phase games between all teams that qualified to the "sweet 16". Before the England game we were at "sweet 4", and now only 2 teams are left. It is quite straightforward really.

I'm not sure how big it is in the US, but even in Canada everyone seems to be watching. Some workplaces put TVs up there with the World cup for the employees to watch. It's not as big as in Europe (or South America I assume) where the world seems to stop during the world cup games, but it's still the biggest sports event by far. Pretty much every business has some World Cup-related events or specials going on, lots of people wear their team's jerseys, and it's very hard to avoid talking about it with pretty much anyone. People who never watch soccer (like me) still watch the World Cups, because it's a really fun thing to do, as everyone is involved and the stakes seem to be super high (being the world champion for the next 4 years).
