One has to wonder how long it will last. Did Android abandon tablet optimized versions in favor of this? And if yes, how long will this Andromeda thing last before it gets scrapped?

I don't know too much about it but regardless of whatever gets announced, it all falls under the umbrella of how long and how well Google will support it. Like Honeycomb.

And if it isn't for tablets and instead for stuff like the Pixel C, then....will many people care or have faith enough to invest in a machine with Andromeda on it?

I'm all for new, shiny tech that pushes the envelope but Google really needs to make the hardware worth the risk of adopting a new OS for.

I'd rather Google buy Twitter than Disney: http://www.chicagotribune.com/blues...-considers-buying-twitter-20160926-story.html

ESPN is owned by Disney and fear what would happen if the shittiness of ESPN spilled over into the handling of Twitter.

Also, this is a yearly check on what Twitter clients you guys use. I use Tweetings. I think there's the stupid token system so I pirated it. Like I pirated Falcon Pro three or four years back. Tweetbot for my Mac.

Why can't Apple let down their guard and make an OS that isn't so restricted? I'd love for this hardware to be on my next phone, be it for light gaming or power efficiency.

This is so dumb. It's like Apple and other OEMs are in bed with each other to purposely fuck up the consumer and to choose between well-made phones in a walled-garden, or variable-quality phones that you can customize to your liking but also at the risk of fucking something up.

We can't just have the best of both worlds on one phone?

A jailbroken iPhone seems like the best device but the drawbacks include possibly being tethered to a computer to simply reboot the phone and also staying on old-ass software updates where the exploits are found.

lol anyone watch that abortion today?

I was an indecisive bitch about my new phone but so glad I got the S7 when I did. I swear Google is on some Illuminati shit and is tanking Android and plans to just sell their shit to Apple. There's no other explanation for making a mid range phone priced the same as an iPhone.

O man, no amount of comments will express how ugly that phone actually is.

I bet someone at Google had a board presentation and was like "I wanted to make it like an IPhone but I couldn't cut out the Apple logo because the whole top part of the back would come off, so I slapped some glossy plastic on it, crippled it a little bit and made the bezels EVEN BIGGER so nobody says we copied anything, just in case so we are original.. and guys, how about let's also make it look more like THIS *takes a Walmart disposable phone out of the pocket*". I bet the board had a good laugh and trolled by approving the idea, and by accident someone leaked the photos so Google had to be like "ok, it's out there, we might as well release that as a product, because why not, we don't have anything else and our annual event is coming, and we're Google, people might think it's for real if we slap an insane price tag lol".

I thought Samsung's OS, Tizen, was a bad idea when it was announced like 5 years ago. The way Android is heading, they're almost forcing and daring Samsung and other OEMs to implement their own system.

Is it possible for OEMs to use their own OS and yet still allow compatibility for Android OS apps? Kind of like what BlackBerry and Windows Phone did? Between delayed software and security updates and OEMs realizing they pretty much dictate everything after the OS, including bundling their bloatware software, you have to wonder if they'll the best of Android which is its user base and app store and then just plop it into an OS that they design on their own terms and perhaps can better have updates released for it in a more timely fashion.

I'm guessing that Google will go the Apple route of releasing an edition of the Pixel and then the following year release the 'S edition'. So what I plan on doing is skipping the Google Pixel, then get a 12 month sim-only contract when my current contract comes to the end of it's term and then wait until what I believe will be a Google Pixel S release next October or Q4 2017, hopefully for cheaper than the original Pixel - if not, then at least my monthly expenses will have been reduced.

What are everyone else's thoughts?

I really liked the Google Pixel but there's just something missing and it really is expensive. I feel they could've undercut the iPhone by £100. Carphone Warehouse are offering it from £599 unlocked and you get a £50 Google Play voucher - I just wish I could use my Currys gift card there as they are both part of the Dixons Carphone group. Maybe in the future...

RIP Note 7. We hardly knew ye

People seem to be predicting Samsung's downfall because of one serious mishap. It's a big deal but people are swearing off of future Samsung devices, either because of the exploding phones or the way Samsung handled the recall/fix.

Whatever it is, people are still going to go back to Samsung. They may have lost a few customers but it's the biggest Android OEM out there competing with Apple. If they put out a device, people may wait a month or two to get it, but if it's the best device like it has been in the past, it'll sell.

So the usb port on my Galaxy S6 broke (partially my fault, I really appreciate the wireless charging which saves my butt) and there doesn't seem to be anything I can replace it with, really. The Note 7 was promising although a little too large for my liking, and I can't believe it was completely cancelled. It's as if Apple suddenly cancelled the iPhone 7+. I had hopes for the Pixel and I like the software on it but the device itself.. I don't understand how Google could mess it up so hard. I hope I'll be able to last until the Galaxy S8 comes out but even then who knows whether that one will be any good.

Finally, that Xiaomi Mi Mix though, finally something new that I am excited about. And it comes from freaking Xiaomi, out of all the smartphone companies that spend billions on RnD.I hope Samsung apes that quickly, as Xiaomi will out it in China only (lol).

Just look at that, that looks unreal and THATS the kind of revolution on the smartphone market Ive been waiting for :

I know, I saw that yesterday. They also unveiled their own VR headset and Mi TV 3S too.

It's a shame about the size of the phone. 6.4" is absolutely huge!! But maybe without the bezels it'd be around the same size as some of the plus-sized phines currently on the market. Hoping there are phones like this but smaller in size. This one will benefit from the large battery capacity.

I take it back..... It's £700

This site is usually cheaper than the chinese sites too. Like aliexpress or DHGate

They aren't making many of these. It's a proof of concept rather than a full scale consumer unit. So if you are prepared to pay the cash, should probably preorder now as you might not get a chance in future. I'd imagine the wealthy Chinese will snap these up.

Don't you like the LG G5? I'm staying away from Samsung until they get their act together. Now their wash machines are exploding. I'll consider them again in 2-3 years.
