Exactly. Iphones are very faulty compared to decent Android phones - Samsung or HTC models especially. However there are really a lot of crappy Android phones out there. There are no-name Chinese brands manufacturing phones running Android and ZTE became one of the biggest smartphone vendors recently too. Android attracts cheap manufacturers because it's free and enables them to release their phones for even cheaper. Quality is low and they break more often. It has nothing to do with Android though, other than the fact that it's the OS that these devices are running, and it's the device failing, not OS.

So Android has nothing to do with it. Saying that "Android phones are more faulty" is a really unfair stretch and no serious person should say that knowing that he might get quoted. Of course that's a statistic but it's pointless and stupid to even mention it.

According to one of the comments in the article, Samsung gives you a new phone for free even if you accidentally damage it?

This is funny.

http://phandroid.com/2011/11/04/app...-patents-in-germany-apple-ban-soon-to-follow/

I didn’t see this coming. Giving Apple a little taste of their own medicine it seems that Motorola has won an injunction against Apple for patent infringement in Germany. The ruling came from a Mannheim Regional Court barring the sale of any Apple device that infringes on two of Motorola Mobility’s 2003 patents. The 1st Apple violating patent is related to GSM, UMTS and 3G — while the 2nd is a little more unclear. What’s more is Motorola is actually owed for past damages as well. Motorola released this statement:

“As media and mobility continue to converge, Motorola Mobility’s patented technologies are increasingly important for innovation within the wireless and communications industries, for which Motorola Mobility has developed an industry leading intellectual property portfolio. We will continue to assert ourselves in the protection of these assets, while also ensuring that our technologies are widely available to end-users. We hope that we are able to resolve this matter, so we can focus on creating great innovations that benefit the industry.”
This comes as a total role reversal as it’s usually Apple on the prowl looking to bring down their competition with ridiculous patent infringement claims. With the big holiday season fast approaching us, this could be a huge win for Motorola, Android and Google. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
So, Apple…. how do you like them apples?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha x 1million

Holy shit, check out the Asus Transformer Prime benchmark - impressive. It is the first quad-core device though so this makes sense. Imagine what'll happen when they root and overclock this thing! I really badly want one, apparently it's getting announced officially on the 9th.

Just a bump in RAM and CPU, compared to the Galaxy Nexus? Doesn't seem worth it. And not being a game, the graphics still don't impress over the phones. I run into issues on my OG Droid and the GNex scores like 150% better than it. So I can't really see needing all that power. From a tablet.

Well, I have to give it to Apple that their tablets are better optimized than Android tablets, even comparing Tab 10.1 to Ipad 2 the Ipad 2 works faster and smoother. You can see it especially in apps, even Google apps like maps. So while I don't think that power is needed for phones, Android tablets need optimizations and it's harder to achieve with Android because of its power-draining nature. Looks like manufacturers would rather use brute power to achieve what they want. Personally I hope that Ice cream sandwich will help.

The increase in RAM and CPU obviously brings with it better power consumption and multitasking. Graphically this type of power could slice through HD video editing and other intensive tasks like butter. Will most people need their tablet to be this powerful? No - and that's why the Kindle Fire will likely sell vastly more units than the Transformer Prime, plus the fact that it's less than half the price (Kindle Fire is $200, Transformer Prime is alleged to be $499).

But if you want something cutting edge, powerful and as future proof as possible, this is what you'll want. The specs of this tablet will likely become the standard for all tablets throughout 2012 and 2013.

Obviously if you're not into gaming it doesn't mean as much, BUT what Kal-El is capable of doing graphically is pretty cool.
