^^ That's weird. That's gonna confuse the shit out of everyone now. Maybe just release it as a maintenance update. You know, the one that doesn't change the firmware? I dunno. That's weird that it just changes the firmware for a few but not the others.

Is 2.3.4 still the most up-to-date software for Android?

Also, the new market app still didn't come OTA. Pissing me off. too lazy to download manually.
yes, that's the current latest version for most phones. i believe that 2.3.4 fixes the battery drain issue on the Samsung Galaxy S II.

The way I see it is that the first Samsung Tab (p1000 or whatever it was called) was like the first-gen Android equivalent.
However the 10.1 could be like the equivalent of Milestone/N1, it's the first Android tablet that I think really does good enough to buy, if I needed a tablet.

Now I don't know about the Ipad3 but it's possible that after it comes out there'll come out a new, superior generation of Android tablets. Not that there' much to improve at the moment. They could pack even faster processors, screens, 3d and that's about it I think.

To be honest I'd have a tough decision between the Ipad 2 and Samsung Tab 10.1 and price would play the key role. Tab 10.1 packs more Cpu power but the efficiency of the ipad 2 is often similar. Displays of both are similarly good but there's a different form factor (I prefer Ipad's form factor, while Tab's form factor is better for movies and such). Both are good devices (yes, I said that about the Ipad2).

yeah, I don't know. All I know is, I couldn't find any reports or links for 2.3.5 for Nexus S without the 4G and the description of the update was all about 4G.

2.3.5 has already been merged into the nightly releases of CM. It has a few bug fixes. Nothing major aside from the WiMax stuff.

But.... I need Flash. So will never get an Ipad.

When the net stops using flash. Then I may change my mind.

Oh, wait, nvm, I just got the latest nightly and it now says 2.3.5. I never checked before in my nightly from a week ago, but...

Nothing's different.

So i tried to update my brother's Galaxy S GT-i9000. Such a nightmare. Downloaded the drivers for Kies and it still didn't connect.

So i then tried to root it. The kernel says 'root' but the superuser permissions arent there. Even temp root using z4 was useless because i couldnt overclock or flash clockworkmod that way.

Stone Cold - i can't see the video or picture you posted.

One game im addicted to but cant get past the fourth level is X Construction, where you have to build a secure bridge using girders and make the train cross it.

this is weird, i have the motorola atrix 4g from att.. i love the phone and the service but with the gingerbread update it seems like my battery is actually draining faster. anyone have this same problem?

If you're rooted, go to recovery and clear battery stats. I find that when I don't do this after flashing a few ROMs (or maybe every few weeks) my battery reading is pretty off. I have a Droid, though. The battery health must be subpar as well given that I've been OCd for a year and my phone constantly dies.

Letting the battery die, supposedly, really hurts the battery too.

Try charging the phone a lot and any chance you get. I hear the lithium batteries love partial charges and actually don't need to be calibrated. Hence why draining them to shut down might be bad for them. See if the new OS needs some time to adapt too.

Could be you're playing with it a ton, too.

I didn't have a problem rooting. It was a piece of piss. Seems so long ago now though. And I have rooted several devices, and installed dozens of roms, I forget how exactly I did it.

But... Youtube is usually pretty good for guides.

I managed to root it when he was on Android 2.1 - it was very easy. But his phone was stuck in a boot-loop after i flashed the Nexus S Gingerbread port. O2 replaced it for him, and the replacement Galaxy S came with FroYo already on there. I guess the FroYo version blocks out a number of the rooting methods.

I tried to get root access by flashing the update.zip file via stock recovery. that didn't work.. the message said that it was unsuccessful because the signature was blocked (or something like that). then i tried rooting it using a one-click method through windows via usb cable. still no luck.

Man FUCK, for the first time since i got the s2 im thinking 'damn, i miss my iphone'

The phone keeps switching between HSDPA and UMTS coverage, for no reason and in areas i know there are HSDPA broadcasters. I see this akin to how my iPhone would go from 2 to 5 bars, seemingly at random. the problem is the iPhone would load websites very seamlessly, while the S2 halts everytime it changes.

Now to what made me miss my iPhone.. i'm visiting someone and they're at work during the day, so i figured i'd kill time online with you guys. I wake up, take the dog for a pee, grab coffee, then attempt this shit for the first time, assuming its just as easy as if not easier than with the iPhone. Using WiFi hotspot i can load one single page after it connects. Then the phone drops the HSDPA signal for a second, resulting in a freeze. Thereafter, no more data is sent or recieved by the wireless network connection. Then, when I disable the hotspot, it says "Disabling.." until it is complete, then says "Error" instead of "Disabled". I can't find anywhere to turn off HSDPA so it only uses UMTS. This whole problem occured because Win XP doesn't have PnP support with the internet sharing, the phone cant use its own internet connection to download drivers automatically, this is all just waaaaay harder than I thought. I know there can be a myriad of causes outside the phone itself, f.ex. the carrier, but fuck me all the same. This is BS.
