If we really wanted one, we could just import it for $800 or so from Europe.
By the time it comes out in the States, it'll be time for the Nexus 3 or GS3 news will start rolling in. Or what I mean is it may not be worth shelling out $200 on contract for a GS2 if it comes out in August, like it's rumored to be. Any time after that is less of a case, if you're trying to get the latest and greatest. And if you're spending $200, why shouldn't you get the latest and greatest?
Still a knock-out phone, but if there's better, you should wait. Like the Nexus One's hardware versus the HTC Incredible's. When the DInc had the AMOLED screen, it was a bargain and one of the best phones out until the Galaxy S came along.
