USA cant be complaining anyway. they got to hold it in the recent past (1994) and most of the country has no interest in football . South Korea and Japan likewise. how could they bid again so soon? Australia should feel most aggrieved. England likewise. they have only got to host one World Cup in the history of the World Cup and that was back in 1966.

The problem with Australia was the time zone issue. Fifa would lose a lot of money in the European market 'cause of this. But I do feel USA should've had it again.

I agree to a certain extent, but football is at a rise in the USA. The MLS gets strong attendance and it covered strongly on most sport channels, and as much as I hate to say it, the USA are fielding a pretty ambitious national team at the moment. They still deserve it more than Qatar for their recent accomplishments internationally and domestically. Not to mention, the 94 WC is #1 in attendance and also in revenue, I believe.

94 was a good WC. Great final. lol

lol arab oil money was prob thrown into FIFA's pockets. shit makes me sick. how the @#$%# can a "high risk" bid end up blowing the runner up (USA) by 6 votes! it's like they decided from the beginning it was gonna go to Qatar. I mean, what the flying fuck does Qatar have to offer? Doesn't have the facilities, it's tiny as fuck, and it's a strict muslim country. do all the women have to be covered up in 47 degree heat? honestly. what are they gonna do with the alcohol sponsorships?

unbelievable.

fifa has to be the most corrupted, incompetent sporting body in the world.

^ I heard that also. That would fuck up every European season. On a related note, Russia is moving to a winter football season...

Who gives a shit if it has air-conditioned stadiums. What's going to happen once the booze and sex crazed Europeans and South American fans come in. Will Sharia law be revoked for the duration of the tournament? Am I the only one that feels that they don't deserve it? What has Qatar done for the football world recently? Else from the most embarrassing miss against Uzbekistan...

At least the Russians are investing in their leagues, youth systems and national team... they have signs of progress. Qatar on the other hand, struggles against shit like Turkmenistan.

Before I read any further, I must say this is a good point from the "romantic, sportslike" point of view, which i also partially share.

We need to view the Qatar bid as a bid for the Middle East and North Africa. In that region, Qatar is probably on of the best places to host it. I was impressed with their stadium plan. They're gonna throw a mountain of money against it, build a few architectural masterpieces, mostly in modules as I understand, and where the WC is done they're gonna ship the stuff to Africa. I mean, that's fucking awesome, lol.

For the infrastructure, Qatar is fine. It's a small country, lots of infrastructure, hotels, etc.

The legal issues are of course interesting, but i guess FIFA ruled with an iron fist and made sure they can get away with anything, lol.

I mean not saying i agree with Russia/Qatar out of my own romantic sports perspective, but we need to view things in context.

Which forces me to admit that theres a strong possibility of oil dollars in play :)

I'd like to say that these bids might serve as carrots to improve human rights and transparency in these countries but as we saw with the Beijing Olympics, that's a bunch of crap. Also, a good point about it being a bid for Middle East and Africa.

However, it's 2018 and 2022? It's too far ahead to give a fuck about. On the other hand, World Cup 2014 IS IN FUCKING BRASIL. GET STOKED FOR THAT.

Yeah and Russia have never been hosts. They imo deserve a shot.It will be good for their country. It would have been great for us UK peeps, top facilities and whatnot, but it aint always about us lol.

I actually thought it was funny as fuck England flopping. Bringing out the big guns in prince william Beckam and the priminister and only getting 2 votes lol. It would have been good though.

Screw Brazil, I'm not going down there just to get kidnapped and lose a kidney!

As for Russia, I'm fine with it.

As for Qatar, FUCK QATAR! With all these corruption stories about FIFA, I wouldn'T be surprised they received some bribes...
