What about beer sponsors in Qatar... they're a pretty strict Muslim country. What it's gonna be tea and water sponsors now? GTFO.

Imagine how hot it will be in Qatar? The football will be awful to watch because of that. How can a 'High Risk' bid win?

The temperatures in Qatar in the summer hit the 40+ degrees Celsius at times... and that's not during a heat wave, that's what it is.

Actually, the weather in Qatar won't be a problem. With the amount of money they have, they're gonna build airconditioned stadiums.

I think Russia is much worse to be honest. Horrible infrastructure and preposterous distances between the playing cities.

Who gives a shit if it has air-conditioned stadiums. What's going to happen once the booze and sex crazed Europeans and South American fans come in. Will Sharia law be revoked for the duration of the tournament? Am I the only one that feels that they don't deserve it? What has Qatar done for the football world recently? Else from the most embarrassing miss against Uzbekistan...

At least the Russians are investing in their leagues, youth systems and national team... they have signs of progress. Qatar on the other hand, struggles against shit like Turkmenistan.

Of course they dont deserve it.

These kind of tournaments should always take place in big football countries. Fuck all these other 3rd world countries.

Fuck it. Didn't expect any different. I'm an armchair fan, and I can watch just as easily whatever country it is in.

I saw it on the telly when the news broke, and let me tell you the other delegations looked mighty displeased. It's really shocking Qatar scored on this one. I mean they're not the most forward thinking nation, and I hope that changes by 2022. I believe women aren't even allowed to attend and enjoy the games there. It's clear that the right oil-stenched hands bribed the right FIFA officials.

Elmira, nice to see you post in this thread :)

I agree with you though, that's what everyone is speculating, it's not like FIFA hasn't been tied to corruption in the past :worried:. I find it really hard to believe that England only got 2 votes. I would have liked to see it in the USA (for obvious reasons), but for England to only get 2 votes, it's pretty shocking...

Dope. Events like the World Cup and the Olympics have negative impacts on host countries' economies. All that oil money should soften the blow.
