Taxes

Assuming you didn't have to pay taxes for one paycheck (and it didn't effect the economy) in any way, would it make a huge difference in your life? Why or why not?

...and what would you do with the $?

Probably not. I would just spend it on the same thing I spend the rest of my pay on, living expenses. Rent, food, beer and going out.

i dont think the tax from one pay check would effect many people greatly. for most on here i doubt it would be any higher than $400 dollars. and a one off of 400 bucks isnt a big deal.

Taxes are going to be over 4% higher here next year (from 22% to 23% VAT). Our new government is fucked in their heads doing all possible mistakes. Either no idea about economy or hoping that the society has no idea. Taxes that high are stupid and they really annoy me. Hardcore pseudo-Socialism annoys me and how it brainwashes people with little idea is also very annoying.

Either way I'd like to pay taxes if they were at about 5-10%. Enough to maintain most public functions that aren't pointless, stupid or bad.

I know it's not what you asked for but I needed to rant :p

I know it's different per location, but for me one paycheck takes about 21% of that check's worth (that includes all taxes state and local). That isn't that much money to do much with. However, if you mean for the entire year.. that's quite a bit more monies :)

yes, i meant the whole year.

The reason why I ask, is because sooo many people complain about taxes, yet, no one claims it to have such a big affect on their lives.

The reason why most people (what you mean is rich people) complain about taxes is because of the belief that they earned the money themselves and they shouldn't let it be spent on other people. On who? For example, on white girls who get impregnated by mexicans, have 10 kids, and live off of welfare (used this stereotype to rile you up). "It's my money, I earned it. I want to keep it." It's not that the rich guy can't LIVE without the money that goes to taxes or that it affects his life tremendously, but it's about the principles he holds to be evident to him.

I have no sympathy for those who earn $250,000+ and complain about higher taxes. But if I ever end up making $250,000 I'm voting Republican and it's that simple.

^i'm not talking about rich people beause a lot of middle class and 'poor' people still say the same thing.

Yes, rich people probably do it more, but that's not who i'm talking about.
The mexican thing doesn't rile me up. sorry.

Why switch class, depending on your $ making status? That is not right, imo.

What the hell do you do for a job?

I am an engineer.

But I made a mistake with my calculations. I paid 30% tax. I can't do 5 year old math.

Yep. Why should the succesful support the country?

People pay taxes and never see any benefit from them. At least not to the same ratio of tax they pay. That tax is just income tax. When you add all the other taxes in I probably pay double that.

I guess I'm the only person that wouldn't care if I was paying higher taxes (if I were making 250,000$ +) to those in worst off situations than me.

Does your tax money get spent well though?

That's my problem. If the system was fair then I wouldn't mind.
