I got a couple of questions since I got my PS3 last week.

1st, anything better than PS3 Media Server to connect my laptop to my PS3? The program is okay for regular movies, but as soon as I tried to play a high quality hd tv show episode it started being buggy.

2nd, what else can I do with my PS3 (except for the obvious, gaming)? I'm very unaware of what can be done and I know a lot of you have the PS3. Spill your secrets.

dont use my ps3 other than for gaming so i wouldnt be able to answer your first question properly. but im sure there are some other third party applications that can be used to connect your computer and ps3.

there is the option of installing another OS on the PS3, but i dont recommend modifying it unless you know what you are doing. also sony (i think) have blocked online gaming to those who use a different operating system.

there are applications in the playstation store that allow more functionality (dont really know what there is because ive never checkd them out).

also, dont buy an expensive headset for games like call of duty because you can use a compatible bluetooth headset which should work, should be much cheaper.

here we have bbc iplayer, there should be some sort of television service on the us/canada versions.

there are some photo apps that allow you to edit and share pics.

you can change the generic theme and download your own ones from ps3-themes.com or ps3themes.de from your console.

I have my movies shared as folders on the network and watch them that way? You may have to set your PC to allow sharing with your PS3, I think it comes up as an unknown device.

I read on PS3 slim it's a bit harder to do as Sony realized it then. But anyways I'm not interested in that. I got a laptop for my computer activities.

so you have Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii, yet you dont seem to play any games?
Actually the reason I have a PS3 is because the 360 did the red circle of death (again). And this time when we sent it they told us they wouldn't fix it for free because they claim we opened the 360 (which we haven't, we don't know how to do that). So anyways my bf got pissed and same night went to buy the PS3. Although I liked the 360, it's not the first time it dies on us and this time was the last straw. We are currently dealing with a Xbox 360 supervisor to get this resolved but um... ya. When the sup called us he/she was unprepared, couldn't prove we opened it. He/she said would call us back after speaking to tech. That never happened.

I'm not a gamer, my bf is. But I play the Wii sometimes. And I use the PS3 to play my movies on my TV. So not I don't own all three.

Stick a paper clip on the fan so it makes the PS3 vibrate. Set PS3 near groin and let the good times roll!!!!
