wut ?

edit: Ah in market capitalization. Not so strange.

Still Microsoft's profit is much higher as well as probably everything else.

Yeah, it's no question that investors are extremely bullish on Apple's growth prospects. They have pretty much written off Microsoft as a leading age innovation company capable of delivering new products. However, Microsoft's stock sell-off was partially a result of comments Balmer made in regards to the European sovereign debt crisis affecting businesses. Investors are real edgy right now and tend to overreact to any information that remotely seems negative. One of my management professors worked for Microsoft for about 15 years since its early beginning and was a product manager for a few things and he's pretty pessimistic about Microsoft. It will be interesting what Microsoft does about all this. They have Natal coming out and also WP7.

Natal and Windows phone both will not help it much imo.
I guess they'll gain the most from operating systems and professional software as always backed up by Xbox360 sales.
I don't even think Natal will be any successful. Initially it's going to cost more than a whole console (arcade version).

^But Microsoft will have to innovate because they will not be able to milk their operating systems and microsoft office for a lot longer. Google mothafucka!

Not only office but they have a lot of other professional software (for example for BI, Databases etc.).

I know, that's what I'm saying. There's a huge problem with Microsoft and innovation lately. Even their "2010" versions of software are basically the same as previous versions.

True. Initially they were saying the price would be below $100 but new reports claim it'll be about $200. It's ridiculously expensive for an add-on. Hopefully they won't make some games Natal exclusive.

As for Microsoft, they haven't been innovative for years. And whatever they tried failed. The Zune was a huge failure, I doubt their new phone OS will sell much either. They need to step up their game big time. They've been on top for too long, they've gotten lazy.

Uhm? I don't know how that works when it will come pre-packaged as a standard controller with all new X-Box's
There will probably 360 + Natal packages. They'll simply be more expensive than a reg 360.

Since they are releasing Natal, I'm guessing there will not be new XBOX for a while. We are pretty much stuck with the 360 for an extra couple of years right?

XBox's goal is to eliminate the standard control system and evolve gaming to the level fantasized about for many years. My people at XBox tell me that they aim for 60% of all new games in 2012 to be controlled by Natal. They also tell me the retail price of Natal as an add on for existing systems upon release will only be approximately $20 more than a standard wireless controller.

You people are look at Natal as an accessory like a light-gun or a steering wheel, which it isn't. It was conceived to wipe out the standard control system.

And yes, XBox aren't planning any new console release until after 2015.

Yup it's definitely a subject to change but watching the market right now it's pretty sure that we won't have any new-gen consoles any soon. PS3 is still "fresh", xbox360 is older but technically it still manages to be on par and sometimes even superior (which is a surprise) because developers are too lazy to code for PS3 so only games that look stunning are exclusives.

Technically xbox360 and PS3 are very good for modern standards. Much, much better than Xbox and PS2 were at a similar time of their life spans.

Actually I failed to see that developers of PS3 went very, very far ahead of their time with it. Like what are the odds that your piece of hardware utilizes technologies that will slowly rise to be popular in 4-5 years. The fact that they failed a bit because it's not half as efficient as it seems to be is a downfall though.
I was one of these "wtf why a 8 core cell and a blu ray lololol" and now I see what they did there :p
Also with time I see that moving over to "slim" was an awesome move.

However Xbox360 turned out to be way better than everyone initially thought. Especially if you compare it side by side with PS3 technically. Xbox360 wasn't even meant to be a HD console lol.

When I heard about Natal and read about it, I knew it was more than an accessory. Instead of releasing a new console they are releasing this add on which will eventually lead the gaming market. But it's foolish to expect everyone to adapt to Natal so quickly. Especially if Natal will cost as much or more than the arcade 360. Obviously they'll force people to buy it by making most of their games dependent on Natal.
I don't know, I just think it should be cheaper. In hope it's not more than $100.

What pisses me off with the 360 is that everything is an add on. You want wireless? Buy the add on. You want HD? Buy the add on. And so on. And most of their add ons are effing overpriced.

I seriously doubt that Natal will be overpriced, as I said, its their intention to change the face of gaming. If they price it to high, people won't bother with it, and that in turn will kill the console, as Natal will be the focus of future 360 games. Microsoft are aware of this, so its in their best interests to take the appropriate path.

I do agree with you on the WiFi adaptor, it is overpriced. As for the HD DVD support, they made the right choice. It was never intended to be a HD console, if it had then the console itself would be dead right now, due to the failure of HD DVD format. I still see the HD DVD drives for the 360 being sold, brand new, for under 20 bucks.

On that note, if any one here did buy the HD DVD player for the 360, don't get rid just yet. There alot of sites selling HD DVDs @ 3 bucks a piece. I bought loads from Play.com .
