Anyway I have some questions that I haven't really found clear answers on or I find conflicting advice about it.

Should you work muscles to failure? When I had a male trainer he would push me to failure...now I have a female and she has me doing 10 reps and I'm like really?!...is that it? I wasn't sore at all after training with her which is what I was used to.

I don't sweat during weight training...some ppl have pointed this out. I don't know why I don't sweat I just don't sweat. It's not that I'm not working hard. Is there a reason?

Does it matter if I do cardio before weights? She told me not to do cardio before weights bc cardio drains energy and you don't put as much efforts into weights...and I haven't really found that to be case though.

Do both trainers know exactly what you are trying to accomplish? Or did you switch goals recently?

Anyway,
Sometimes it's best to work out till failure, other times, I work out do like 3-5 sets of 8-10 reps. You must switch it up otherwise you won't gain or do anything to your body. So, doing it one way all the time is not good. You should tell her that you weren't sore, see what she says. She might try and amp it up or whatever.

As for not sweating, I only sweat when I do resistance training, but not weight training. (Not even cardio, unless i'm running on my own.) However, if I'm using some REALLY heavy weights, then I'll sweat.

::: You don't have to answer this obviously, but do you sweat during sex? I do but only on my back, which is where I only sweat when doing resistance training. :embarresd: I find it weird too, but if the sex is good, you should be sweating. If not, then...well maybe you are not hydrated enough. The whole point of sweating is to cool the body with water you have in your system. So, if you don't sweat, then you don't have the proper water.

As far as cardio, I used to do like 5 mins or more of it then go to my workout, but I did feel a small difference a few times when I did cardio after my work out. I think it depended if I was rested or not.

Your trainer should take into account that not everyone is built the same, though, but I do kind of agree with her.

I'm guessing you are trying to tone up and not gain mass muscle. you should be doing a lot more than 10 reps of a lighter weight. Try doing your cardio after weight training

Here is the right answer.

If you want to bulk up you should do 6-8 (mmaaaaaaxxx 10) reps TO FAILURE. Which means once you hit the 8th rep you shouldnt be able to lift any more. That means keeping track of what weight you're up to and selecting the right weight. This will add mass to your muscles.

If you're trying to tone up, you should do more reps. The problem with doing a lot more is that your body gets used to it.

You should only do cardio on your days off if you're doing a three day split. I lift three days a week, do Martial Arts 2 nights a week, and swim one or two days depending on time.

Now here is the thing, you're a chick. You wont bulk up. You cant build muscle without testosterone and you simply dont have it (I hope!) so in that case I wouldnt worry about "I dont want to get big!" like most girls worry, because you wont, it is impossible. You will tone up, but you wont build mass.

So in that case, I recommend that you do three sets of 8 to 10 reps and the last set of 8 to 10 should be to fatigue. Meaning first set should try to do 10, second set you should only be able to do 8, and the final set you should only be able to lift 5 or 6 and that's it.

Also, you shouldnt work out more than 45 minutes when it comes to weights, it's pointless.

If you do want to bulk, you're going to need to inject testosterone because you're a girl.

For guys reading this, you need to eat a lot of protein.

In the past three weeks I have been HEAVILY hitting the weights, eating 5 meals a day with 400grams of 100% Whey Protein and the change is amazing. Before that I was cutting to weigh less for fighting and now am just building muscle, and after 3 years of having a lack in protein because I was a vegetarian the muscle growth is just amazing.

Yea I do sweat during cardio activity. I'm not trying to bulk up and I do know its next to impossible for me. I do get toned pretty easily...especially my upper body. But I've gained err about 15ish lbs in the past 6 months bc of my bf x( I like doing cardio and weights the same day. My question was basically is it hurting anything by doing cardio first? If I break it up I won't even go to the gym on cardio days bc I hate it.

It's wearing your muscles out so you're not performing at optimum level. It also reduces water in your muscles so it means they could burn out.

It is much better and safer to do weights first and then cardio.

And yes, you should be doing them to failure, like I said, three sets of 8-10 with the last set bringing you to failure at rep 5-8 and you'll get toned very quick.

well of course women build muscles, but it's nothing to worry about. You don't get super big over night. I pretty much agree with the rest that was said. If I work out, I like to go to the point of failure (or beyond as a matter of fact) - I'm intersted in efficiency.

Women can not build muscle without supplements.

^^^ They will tone, get definition and gain strength but they will not gain significant mass. Women can't "bulk" up.
