my dick just solidified again.

sonic was the man, although he was a hedgehog.

i heard of a Treamcast a while back (Dreamcast 2). i grew up playing the mega drive. in those days you could play the same simple game over and over and over again!! i used to play sonic 2 and micro machines with my brother every saturday when we were kids.

i think, we threw away our mega drive or something. i hope not. hope its in the loft.

^i sold some genesis/mega drives games back in the day so i can buy ps1 and eventually bought them again a few years back. i felt like going back to 1999 or 2000 and smack myself for selling them.

I still have my actual Mega Drive console but the wires for it broke. I sold most of the games back in around 2000 or so.

I had gotten a Dreamcast, and so I sold most of my games in order to buy some DC ones. Sucked because I only maybe got £3-£4 for each game, sold about 20 games and could only afford like 3 Dreamcast games lol.

At least I have all the ROMS on my laptop. I still rock out to "Sonic 3", "Moonwalker", "Toejam & Earl" and "Streets of Rage 2" from time to time......

Its been ages since I played Sonic!! Today is the first time in about 13 years (give or take) that I played it. Only reason I looked for my mega drive console was because of this thread. It'll be interesting seeing how hardcore fans react to the latest edition.

I had all the Sonic games for the Megadrive at one stage or another. Sonic 3 and Knuckles was the best imo especially when you played as Sonic. Hyper Sonic was awesome. lol

hyper sonic? i called it super sonic. the yellow colour, extra speed and sharper pricks made him look mean.
It's not the same thing.

Basically Sonic & Knuckles had an additional cartridge slot. It looked like this:

Now, if you inserted a Sonic 2 game into this, you could play Sonic 2 as Knuckles.

But if you inserted Sonic 3, not only could you play as Knuckles in Sonic 3, but it linked the levels in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 into one long game.

When you played it this way, if you collected all the emeralds (in order to become Super Sonic), at the end of Sonic 3/beginning of Sonic & Knuckles, you lose the Chaos Emeralds and they become Super Emeralds. If you collect them all again, throughout the Sonic & Knuckles levels, then you can become Hyper Sonic who is even more powerful than Super Sonic.

Super Sonic is yellow, Hyper Sonic is a white/really light blue color.

i remember the sonic and knuckles cartridge because i borrowed it from my friend when i was younger. didnt get to play the combined levels or do hyper sonic.

i remember in 2 player mode you could do the 4, 1, 2, 6 super sonic cheat and then break the computer transporter item to switch things around and become super tails (although not official) he had the invincible stars around him.

Yea when you played Sonic 3 with Sonic and Knuckles you could become Hyper Sonic.

First of all you play through the levels of Sonic 3 and collect all the Chaos Emeralds. Once you have them all you can become super sonic. These carry over to Sonic and Knuckles so when you continue on from Sonic 3 and start at Mushroom Hill zone with all the chaos emeralds. you now have to collect super Emeralds. Once you collect all these Sonic can turn into hyper Sonic. Basically, he could run faster and jump even higher than Super Sonic.

Hyper Sonic was not in Sonic 2 and Knuckles though. just Super Sonic. Sonic 2 wasnt linked with Sonic and Knuckles at all though. When you put the Sonic 2 cartridge on top of the Sonic and Knuckles one, all it allowed you to do was play as Knuckles in Sonic 2 which was pretty pointless. The levels of Sonic and Knuckles were originally meant to be part of Sonic 3 but they ran out of time to complete the game so they just made two different games.

Sonic 2 and Knuckles wasn't pointless. There were lots of areas in the game that you could get to as Knuckles that were otherwise inaccessible as Sonic. I remember in Chemical Plant Zone you could climb up these towers with Knuckles, loads of them in a row and there were extra lives on top of them all.

there were loads of places with rings (10 rings), shields, stars and lives that you could not get to normally. you could see them as you spin through pressing down, down, down all the way.
