I am now done with Obama

I am done with Obama.

I just read / heard that the Obama administration has reversed its policy stance on Israel, claiming that stopping construction of settlements in Palestinian territory is no longer a requirement for a peace deal between Israel and Palestine.

So basically, this shows how Obama is a spineless moron with no backbone. I have supported Obama (read other threads), but this is just unacceptable.

To break it down for everyone - initially Obama told Israel is must hold off on future construction of settlements in Palestinian territory as a prerequisite for a Peace agreement. He said this was paramount in achieving a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Israel kicks up a stink, and several months later they now announce that halting the construction of settlements is NO LONGER a requirement in reaching a peace agreement.

So basically, while these futile "talks" will continue, Israel will just keep expanding into Palestinian territory.

Where the fuck is the justice here?

I'm done with Obama now. THis shows he's got no backbone and is all rhetoric and nothing else. He's all spin, no substance. Absolutely disgusting.

If the jewish lobbyists have THAT much power over the Presidential Administration, then this world is fucked.

What are the details of "Israel kicking up a stink"? I remember reading that they were doing something against US interests as the result of Obama's policy stance but I can't recall at the moment what it was.

MARRAKECH, Morocco (AP) – In the face of Arab criticism, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on Monday moderated her praise for Israel's offer to restrain – but not stop – building settlements in Palestinian areas. While Israel was moving in the right direction, she said, its offer "falls far short" of U.S. expectations.

Clinton said her praise of Israel's offer to restrict Jewish settlement activity had been intended as "positive reinforcement."

So, if you're done with Obama, what's your contingency plan? What do you do now?
He'll read up on the Illuminati, of course, and become a conspiracy theorist.

I'm more of a negative reinforcement kind of person.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that if that's what he's REALLY going to do. Good choice.
I wrote a sarcastic reply to this at first but I'm genuinely curious as to what you think can be gained from reading up on conspiract theories. And of course I don't mean knowledge, I mean what can be gained that actually helps within politics? If you were to become politically active how would it change your approach? etc.

I don't know. Why are you asking me this? I'm not a conspiracy nut, and i'm not running for office anytime soon lol. I simply stated that it was a good choice if he looked into it.

Right.. it falls "far short of US expectations" yet they condone it.

Absolutely pathetic.

I guess I should ask why you think it's a good choice as opposed to just a choice. What good, specifically, do you see coming out of it? Not asking you to defend your statement, I just wanted to hear your reasons for adding "good choice". I'm curious since the subject has been popping up.

I think it would be good for him to question the US government (which is obviously not completely honest with its own citizens), and hopefully he will raise more questions like the one had had on his first post. I would rather see Ill-matic do something different, rather than switch sides and keep following a political system that never changes its ways, has less influence on the President than Jewish lobbyists and wall street.

Well, the freeze policy was Abbas's requirement for talks to begin, not so much Obama putting his foot down because he was morally outraged. All he wants is to get talks going to come up with a two-state settlement. If that happens, he knows this will be a moot point. Since Israel is going to ignore it his only choice is to overlook it. Because if he comes down hard on Israel, talks will definitely not happen. But he knows Abbas will give in before Israel does, just like he gave in. All he cares about is getting things going. He's just a politician doing what politicians do.

^^ There's no logic in that. The entire foundation of a peace agreement lies in halting Israel's incursion into Palestianian territory. Palestinian civilians refer to Israel's incursion as "occupation", and it is precisely this which has fueled anti-Israel sentiment demonstrated by the increasing popularity of Hamas etc..

Peace talks cannot be productive if this continues to occur. That is my point. And further to that, it shows the weakness of Obama's administration to give into the desires Israel when they themselves said that ENDING the construction of settlements was a precondition for peace talks.

Again, these talks will go no where. This is all rhetoric on Israel's part, and their insistence on continuing the illegal construction of settlements ON PALESTINIAN TERRITORY simply demonstrates their unwillingness to cooperate and take these peace talks seriously.

Point is, they dont give a fuck. Will say "ohhh we will scale back our construction" just to show they are making some form of effort.. These talks will continue for a few months... Will go nowhere and will reach a stalemate...Someone will fire a rocket into the other, and then we will be back to square one... Just as we have been for the past few fucking decades, because an American administration doesn't have the balls to tell Israel to shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down.

I do agree, but you can't really blame Obama for that. You can put some blame on the entire administration, but there's more factors at work. The "Jewish lobby" (I hate that phrase because of it's conspiracy connotatios) IS very strong in the US and they're obviously trying to effect all they can when it comes to US policy dealing with Israel.

Would I want to see the US saying "enough is enough!" ? Yes, in a way. But I don't think that's practical. In the end, Obama is doing what Jokerman already said and what every politician would try, that's getting them all round the table again.
