Obama Has Already Played As Much Golf As Bush Did Almost 3 Years

President Barack Obama has only been in office for just over nine months, but he's already hit the links as much as President Bush did in over two years.

CBS' Mark Knoller — an unofficial documentarian and statistician of all things White House-related — wrote on his Twitter feed that, "Today - Obama ties Pres. Bush in the number of rounds of golf played in office: 24.

Took Bush 2 yrs & 10 months."

This news comes on the heels of today's news that Obama played golf with a woman — chief domestic policy adviser Melody Barnes — for the first time since taking office.

Breaking News. I've played more golf than Obama since he took office, and I work a full time job and go to school. This is stupid

if it was bush now this threads comments would be totally different but its all good
That conclusion would require you to ignore the fact that you've been bashing Obama for the past weeks (warning: this is not a pro-Obama comment). It makes people wonder about your intentions and influences their comments. The thread comments would be totally different if it had been posted by someone else.

Also their situations are different, being president of the USA isn't enough to simply compare two people. Bush was wildly unpopular with a huge part of the country and seeing him play golf rubbed them the wrong way, hence the negative comments. Give Obama's presidency some time, watch for mistakes that should make him unpopular and then make a thread about Obama playing golf.

LoL, its funny to see that you are "running aroung" lately, educating people on such trivial things as logic, etc.

Way to take what I said out of context.

Give Obama's presidency some time so you can make an unbiased comparison between the public's reaction to him and Bush. If golf statistics of Bush had popped up this early into Bush's presidency it wouldn't have yielded the same comments either. But really, who gives a shit if Bush played golf? It was obviously just people using that to bitch about Bush.

When did I ever say anything about making negative comments? What are you replying to?

I asked this same question when people would say this about Bush:

Do we really want ANY President to spend ALL of his time working, with NO down-time?

Anybody who answers "yes" to that, has obviously never had a work-releated mental breakdown after several months of 18+ hour days.

These guys are human. In earlier generations, Presidents drank scotch in the Oval Office. These days, they golf and chill at their Texas ranch.

Big deal...

I don't see anything wrong with this but I agree that people were in uproar over this when Bush did it just because he was Bush.

Not that there was lack of mistakes on Bush's part to criticize.

Even though Obama is clearly better than Bush it doesn't mean he is great or even great. I am still waiting on some real progress or change from his administration.

But it's not like Bush set such a high bar for the next person to overcome.

It's only a "big deal" when America is attacked. That's when people point out the fact that he's spending a lot of time playing golf.

There's nothing wrong with criticizing how Obama decides to spend his 'free' time. I commend Yak for 'taking shots' at Obama all the time. He's doing it proudly with whatever we have left of our first ammendment (while we still have it).

Is the first amendment the one where you can take shots for no reason, or point out things that are blindingly obvious?

Im sure the reason of this thread was to show that Obama obviously doesnt give a shit because he's playing golf rather than 'solving the problems of the world' but it doesnt work.

Maybe he works smarter, not harder?

Remember, you are comparing him to BUSH. The time he wasnt playing golf, he was probably trying to figure out the map that led him to his office from his bedroom every morning.
