Now wait a minute here. Around 1 minute into the video, they show a clip of Obama saying he "argues for more troops for Afghanistan to finish the fight".

Correct me if im mistaken, but some of you critizised him for promoting peace during the campaign, when he just made the decision to get some 12 thousand new soldiers into Afghanistan.
Not only that, he did it in a slick & quite way

^You don't think a war in Afghanistan is contributing to world peace, in the long run? Whether the war can be "won" is another story but still. You think letting the Taliban roam free is what "world peace" means?

They already dislike us for being there and we're sending more troops there?

This so called "peace" is a justification for continuing the war. It's like saying you don't want to vote NO against the Patriot Act simply because it says "Patriot" on there, and you'd be unpatriotic not to vote for it. The word "peace" is being used in the same way to continue this war.

Is this a question I can answer, or is it specifically for Killuminati? Cause I feel a set up around the corner depending on what he answers. lol

The Taliban are not the only "terrorist" in opposition to the USA. Hell, America sparked their reason for hating the US. Letting capitalistic colonial leaders roam free has brought on the majority of the most disasterous wars ever seen in. Ask Vietnam, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Native Americans, and Africans that.

So in the "long run", the only thing that can come is more death. No leaders dying, just kids who feel that they have to be patriotic without understanding the own issues in their own society.

War cannot breed peace, only a pause. Feel me?

Thats just what I think though. To each his own.

You are dodging SOFIs question.
That should be his concern, not yours. lol.

*shakes head at this post*

People were dying under the taliban regime before someone invaded afghanistan. You know that, right?
Well, unfortunately, that's their problem. I don't see why we should send our brothers and sisters there to die in vein, or to cause even more deaths of innocent little boys, girls, and full families.

Oh wait, we're looking for the 'terrorists who attacked us in 9/11', nooo wait, we're looking for Bin Laden, shit, no... we're there as peacekeepers and to promote peace and democracy.

smh. Or maybe we're there to build Dick Cheney's pipelines.

Our presence in Afghanistan was supposed to be temporary in response to 9/11, but the Bush Administration made it permanent and, unfortunately, the Obama Administration is escalating it. We need to get out of Iraq and get out of Afghanistan. We don't need to give it more time. All we'll have there is more expense, more casualties, and create more enemies. We are not going to be able to transplant our type of democracy to those nations.

Leaving Afghanistan will not be like leaving Vietnam, there won't be civility or peace, there will be an extremely bloody war where extremists will try to take control of the country again. Do you think the Taliban, Al Queda or any other extremist group will just forgive us if we leave Iraq or Afghanistan? BTW I'm not a "LETS GO TO WAR YEAHHH!" guy, I looked at both pros and cons of staying and the pros out way the cons.

What we need to do is spend the money going there to build infrastructure, hospitals and schools. A society doesn't advance without those three.

That's the kind of attitude you should have (last sentence of 1st paragraph). As a matter of fact, i commend you on both of your statements.

I think the reason they hate us so much is NOT because we are free, and we live decent lives here in the US, but because we're over there in their countries. We're invading them, destroying them, and rebuilding them? As Jokerman said, we're creating more enemies by doing this.

Do you think if we ever get to the point where we can officially call Afghanistan a 'success' (whether or not Bin Laden is found dead or alive), and be enemy free with respect to the 'terrorists' coming out of Afghanistan? I, personally, don't think so.

That is true. But leaving the region will destabilize it further.

Also, the last thing America needs is troops back. Unemployment rate is already high and hasn't peaked. The returned troops will spike it up to damn near 20%.

I dont know how the military works, contract wise, so i apologise if this question is stupid but:

If the troops come back from afghanistan, would they immediately be unemployed? I'd imagine they would just be based at a national military base (or in some other country)?
