Sony MDRV150 Headphones

I am going to buy these headphones today. i need a new pair since my ipod ones have been broken for almost a year and ive been using crappy PC ones with like 100 nots tied up to shorten the length of wire; on top of that and they are very very uncomfortable on the ears.
after i use them for about 10 minutes my ears and head hurt... and to think i travel a lot to work and uni i really cant put up with that for another year or two so its about time i invest in some good value headphones.

hmv.com: technology: Mdrv150: Headphones (1999)

These are the Sony MDRV150 headphones at £10.99 online (free delivery). i just hope the price is the same in the store so that i can get them today.

i found beats by dre for £232 including shipping to the uk from a website online usually they are £280 just for the item), but im trying to cut on my spending since i have to buy a years worth of bus/tram travel today. hole in my pocket.

i hope i can return the item if its opened and if im unsatisfyed (hopefully i wont be). its not like i can make a pirated copy of it.

Those look decent but you really do get what you pay for when it comes to headphones. But those should do the job.

i know. i eneded up getting the same ones from Argos which were in fact £12.87 as opposed to the £10.99 price in HMV and that's because i realised i had a voucher for Argos, so it feels as though i got the headphones for free. you cant go wrong.

Sony makes shitty headphones in that price range.
Go for Sennheiser or Philips ones. They are the best.
Sennheiser px100 would be the best since it's sound quality is better than many 100$ full headphones + they are comfortable (you can sometimes forget that you have them on), foldable and fully portable. You may not like the idea that they don't block any noises from your surroundings.
They are more expensive than what you're initially planning to pay but they're really great and totally worth it.

Edit: okay I just found out that they're almost 40 pounds in Agros. It's still worth it if you're willing to pay that amount for headphones. Personally I almost can't listen to any music on cheaper ones, especially with a good player since it's a major waste of quality. However you still might be satisfied with 10 pound headphones. I'd go for Philips in that case.

ive already bought the Sony ones. i havent opened the box.

what do you think of these ones masta?

hmv.com: technology: Hd201 Budget Dj: Headphones (2006)

i quite liked the size of the sony ones too because i dont really want massive chunky headphones since i'll be using them on the way to uni and will most likely wear them during lectures so that when im on the way back home at night lectures or any lecture which i might just go straight home again i can just put em straight back on again. or just on the way back home from work on the bus. i hate fiddling around with plugging and unplugging the wires all the time.

thanks.

Those look pretty good masta. I have some sennheisers, they are great for the price.

I would love some beats by Dre headphones, but damn they're expensive.

So for all those needs PX100 would be great.

hd201 are not bad. They are the cheapest Sennheiser full headphones. You should be satisfied but they are bigger.
These Sony ones are not that bad since they are usually more expensive and you managed to get them for cheap. Here they are ~30$ so that's why I said that Sony headphones in that price range suck - simply because they are overpriced and you can usually get something better from a different company.

You should try any headphones on before buying anyway. The most popular mid-range headphones on the market are Koss Porta Pro's which look like that:
http://www.techmasher.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/KOSS_Porta_Pro.jpg

and sound not too great to me. However for many people they are perfect.

PX100's have a bit 'darker' sound, are not "overbassed" but more balanced for all kinds of music.
Personally I love them because I also have bigger and more pro Sennheisers Hd555 I bought earlier for my home audio and after I've heard PX100s for the first time I don't use hd555 anymore.

the problem with trying them on is that they are all packaged in the shop. there arent any on display for this model.

just opened and tried these headphone on today. they sound a million times better than the last ones i was using. much more comfortable. i am very happy indeed.

i can now hear some of those songs which had really low frequency causing it to sound very quiet (even if loudened via itunes).

the only problems are that they sort of keep slipping down my head a little (i dont like wearing the plastic thing sitting on top of my head, prefer it behind - because it feels better and i dont like it flattening my hair. it gets flattened to eaasily and doesnt stick upwards the same).

and the leather earphones cover about 95% of my ears so if im wearing the diamond studs i might either disconnect them causing them to be lost or the corner of the earring might cut and damage the leather on the earphones.
