World Cup 2010

is Seb not posting anymore? lol

i know its disappointing to lose the semi but the Germans can be proud of that team and they have potential to win major tournaments in future.

^^what are you on abouyt?when did i say that was luck that they got to the semis?

yes Germany played very well and have showed great potential in this tournament. i dont see how they were unlucky though as you said they were

Spain dominated that game for most of it. 1-0 wasnt a fair reflection of their dominance.

you could say they were unlucky against Spain if they matched or came close to Spain in that game but they didnt.
They dominated by passing the ball in midfield, they very rarely threatened the German's goal in a clear cut situation.

That's not to say i don't think Spain desereved to win, their midfield was amazing against Germany but 1-0 was fair IMO.

I also think that Germans despite playing well were very lucky. Very, very lucky by catching England and Argentina in their worst, lucky against Spain and lucky to win with Uruguay which was the better team out there. Not that their game was bad but they were inferior nevertheless, as much as I like the German team.

Come on, how can they be ashemed? Most people wouldn't place them even in the top 5 before this world cup started. But despite being lucky they played well so 3rd place is kind of deserved. I especially loved how perfect their strategies were, great teamplay, good and accurate passes etc.

The Germans played well this tournament, let's put that first.

They were obviously lucky to catch England, who had a horrid tourney, and Argentina on a total off-day. They kinda fucked up vs. Serbia, Australia rolled over and played dead, Ghana was a tough enough match.

Spain was their first really big test. And they promptly lost. Spain definitely dominated, but weren't at all effective in creating chances and secondly, finishing said chances.

Uruguay today, only saw the second half. Very entertaining. I think it was a deserved win for Germany, though it was a shame that Forlans free kick didn't go in.

IF Forlan's kick went it that woulda probably been the best match i've ever seen....

it was close though.... i hate the fact that every team comes into the tournament, scared to loose and plays defense.

we would see more games like the 3rd place game if teams would open up against each other and attack...
maybe its just the brazilian in me but i hate defense and i hate 1-0 score lines

i agree Germany did play very well and were worth their place in the semi final. i never said they were lucky in that regard. all im saying is that they could have been beat by more against Spain in response to SOFI saying that they had been unlucky.

and i listed 5 or 6 clear cut chances Spain had against Germany (how many other teams did that?) just off the top of my head and yet you still want to say that they werent effective in creating chances? maybe they didnt create as much in relation to the amount of the ball they had but they still had a few excellent chances and 1-0 was not the right score in that game.

what did people expect? that Spain would have chances every minute against this German side who work so hard to close down space when they dont have possession?

There was the Pedro situation, but apart from that they didn't create clear cut chances out of the possibilities they had. They often ran themselves dead in the German box. If they played it smarter they could've created a handful of real, 100% chances that even I could put away.

But they didn't. They should've won 2-0 or 3-0 and afterwards say that they should've won by even more.

Because they way they could dominate right up to the 16 was impressive. But didn't do THAT much with their dominance. That's what I'm saying.

3 hours till kick-off. I am a nervous wreck. I am a barrel of raw, uncut emotions.

Good luck Netherlands. Don't let these dirty Spaniards win ;)

Also, this match better be interesting to watch. I'm staying at home because of it today!

^^i've seen worse, but its been bad so far...
they're just nervous....
the world cup finals is never a great game, full of passes and offense... teams are scared to loose... excpect the second half to be more defensive... :-/
