so its ok to do that is it? what manager would tolerate that? none would.

yes that was a factor as well. but the main reason Riquelme quit was because of how Basile was got rid off. i read this the other way. He was disgusted over it while most of the players wanted Maradona. Thats strange to me if true, because Maradona spoke awful highly of Basile in his book if i recall. (a good read btw)

also from watching Riquelme and reading about him, it appears to be that he is a whiner. all these managers cannot be wrong. its pretty well known that the guy is a jerk.

i dont buy that nonsense about Maradona coming into the dressing caused professional footballers to lose focus. sounds like finger pointing to me.

btw, what was Riquelme's performace like in that 2006 Quarter FInal v Germany. wasnt it fairly poor? i cant remember properly tbh.

also, Riquelme has problems with Martin Palermo as well i believe.
Riquelme was good against Germany, it was his corner which brought the goal also. (this is something people always forget) He was running the game until Pekerman subbed him, Argentina then crumbled and couldn't hold onto the ball. The front two at the end of the game was Crespo and Cruz. Without a midfielder to supply them the ball, they were pretty much useless. Riquelme was blamed for this defeat which is retarded. Former Argentina players pinpoint this being the reason they lost that game.

What Zanetti did wasn't right, I never said it was. But, something must of been wrong if the players followed Zanetti's instructions and not Maradonas? Dropping someone like Zanetti, with 130caps never really had a bad game is ridiculous. Maradona picked 102 players in his short reign in charge. That is lunacy.

Riquelme being a jerk, probably, I don't really care much for his personal life. But we don't know the guy. The only outbursts he has really done on a worldwide scale was his two retirements from International football.

Last Thursday, Maradona pointed to Riquelme's recent dip in form on the chat show Gol de Medianoche on TyC Sports. Unless Riquelme played closer to the area, took men on and provided key passes to the forwards – something he is not doing for Boca right now, explained the Argentina coach, "he is no good to me". Maradona repeated the phrase four times.
Why Riquelme was pissed off. Riquelme who was the captain wasn't even told he was stripped of the captaincy or dropped for Maradona's first game, he saw it on tv. Which Maradona acknowledged was a mistake on his part.

Riquelme and Palermo have had problems for awhile, both are legends at Boca, i forgot why theres a disupute.

^^he had problems at Villareal though and i reckon there were problems with his attitude at Barcelona as well. it seemed strange to me that they got rid of him because his performances were quite good.

was Veron injured today? it was crazy not to play him.

Maradona was never cut out to be a top manager anyway. i am saddened that it ended this bad. wouldnt have been too bad if they only lost 1 or 2 nil but they got such a hiding today.

I forgot what happend at Villarreal, I do know he was off form for the first part of his last season. At Barca he was not a signing the manager at the time wanted (koeman?) it was a political signing so the manager didn't want to play him but when he did, Riquelme was deployed on the wing. Riquelme as a winger makes as much sense as playing Jonas at Right Back.

I would like to add that football, easily, has to be the best god damn thing in this world.

:D

As for Maradona... I'm sure another club will pick him up. It's not like his managerial resume is huge here. I love his passion though, always have and always will, it's heart warming. Football is his life and love and you can see it with the range of emotions he goes through as you watch him.

Can't believe Rooney, Ronaldo, Kaka and Messi all had crap world cups. Thought at least one of them would have come alive, you could argue Messi had some decent moments, thats about it though.

^^Messi played well in most of their games though.

i know he didnt score but if you look at yesterdays game, he had to drop deep to collect the ball. Argentina were like two different teams on the opposite end of the pitch with no one linking them together.

Messi is no Maradona either. there are certain attributes that Maradona had, that Messi is lacking right now but bear in mind tha the is only 22 and Maradona didnt do a whole lot when he played at the 1982 WC.

Messi played like crap in the Argy games, c'mon man. He had his moments but for most of the time he was just busy running about into defenders and losing the ball. The only reason it doesn't look pathetic is because he's such a good player at the core, but he was way way waaaaaaaay below par this world cup it's so not even funny.

^ Also the pressure on Torres to perform is immense now.

In Messi's defence, he also got very little support from his teammates. They just stood there looking at him when he made an action or a dribble. Didn't help him out whatsoever and then it becomes very difficult now matter how good you are.

You better shut up before you come in here again with another fairy tale. Cant believe you are playing football yourself.

What the fuck? I said that there is a rule along those lines, not that THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY a rule in those same exact words you over-rational emotionless German fuck.

Also, I checked it out. It happens to be an MLS rule so I was half right, you German piece of shit. :)

Tevez claimed that the Dutch and the Germans don't have any "top players", lol.

So we already knew Tevez was spitfuck ugly, now we have confirmation that he's also a retard. :thumb:

are Robben and Sneijder not top players?

what about Lahm or Schweinsteiger? the thing with Germany is that they have young players like Ozil and Mueller who are not recognised as top players yet but they will be from now on.

Germany 2010 = France 1998. Both are like a team put together by the United Nations.

At least they play well. When I watched Germany play in this tournament, I felt like I was not watching Germany...

As a matter of fact, this WC is weird, Germany play like Brazil, Brazil play like Germany, Uruguay is good again after one century, etc.

At least England is still utter shit.
