I wrote a whole post about today's match vs Slovakia but i lost it
My thoughts come down to this:
Persie was poor again, unfortunately. If he doesn't improve vs Brazil, i'll be clamouring for Klaas-Jan during halftime.
Bommel and de Jong played with the handbrake on. Especially De Jong. 80% at most. On top of that, Bommel didn't have his day, poor passing this afternoon.
Kuijt is fantastic though. The effort he puts in. It's always useful and in matches like this even more. He's also not an egomaniac, the assist that he gave, if it was Persie or Robben in his position, they would've shot themselves, lol.
Robben....his quality, besides the obvious ones, is that he can always shine out of sheer individual class. The team doesn't have to run smoothly, the match can be difficult, it doesn't matter because when Robben feels well he can always force something. Funny thing is, in today's match and also vs Cameroon, Robben didn't choose the best continuation of play (a pass) in his two moments. But he can be so good that by obstinately pursuing his action, he still forced the vs. Cameroon goal and then made the vs. Slovakia goal. He really does add something special and it's good to have him in form right now.
For friday I'm wondering if v. Marwijk will play Kuijt on the left.
Dirkie Kuijt from Katwijk versus Maicon Douglas Sisenando from Criciuma, now that's a duel I'd love to see.
