I'm asking because I didn't see Lippi shake his hand...

Anyway, I'm pissed at Denmark. Lived there for 6 months, so I obviously had to cheer for them.

I was mad at Olsen. He should have forced Rommedahl like against Cameroon, but nooo... God damn.

Not a single word about the Dutch?

I'm severely disappointed in you guys. 3 matches, 9 points. There ya go. Suck on it.

And yeah, Honda is class. Good that you lot finally figured it out as well. :D Anyone care to dig up the post I made a year ago saying he'll be big? :D

And then to imagine the Jap coach "abused" him by playing him as a striker. Honda is a fantastic number 10. I think he'd do very well @ Liverpool or Man Utd. Both clubs seem to lack his type of player.

Honda and Rooney would be a sick combo. Trust me on this.

^ You're right actually :D Me and my mates have been banging on about how not to peak too soon, fly under the radar right up until where you can't hide anymore, avoid suspicion, etc.

We've managed just fine in that respect :thumb:

First match against Denmark was solid, second against Japan was atrocious, third against Cameroon was solid again. I liked that Persie got a goal, even though he sucked for most of the match. Even more I liked Huntelaar's goal. It was an easy tap-in but he was there and he made it and that's good for his confidence. He's a valuable player to have on the bench.

It was funny that it was Robben that forced the second goal, though...barely 10 minutes on the pitch, he got the ball and there was someone running up next to him. The best continuation of play was to pass it of course, but when Robben went jerking around I scolded him. Then the fucker pulled inside with that lightning quick small acceleration of his and curved in a shot that hit the post.

I'm so glad Arjen is on our side, lol.

Still...Slovakia in the 2nd round. Shouldn't be a problem. Robben should play max. 45 mins. We need to put him in a glass box with "Fragile" on it and only take him out when we need him.

Slovakia should pose no problems. I'm positive Bertje will make sure the squad doesn't underestimate the Slovaks. They will need to approach it like any other match, a 100% focused on the goal and the result. Then...quarterfinals...Brazil....the tournament and the quest to become world champions starts there for us. From that point there can be no more hiding.

But okay, Slovakia first. We shouldn't let them get in our way. If we can't beat Slovakia we don't deserve shite.

Before the Spaniards, the Dutch used to be my favorite national team. The generation of Marc Overmars, Phillip Cocu, Edgar Davids, Patrick Kluivert and Michael Reiziger was pure beauty to watch. Shame I never saw them win anything, those were some brutal years not to mention Euro 2000. By the time they missed out on the 2002 World Cup, that was it for me :D Good luck to them for the remainder of the tournament.

It was great to see Robben come off the bench, he definitely will be a key piece as the tournament progresses.

robben was class for the 10 mins or so that he played. just that his first touch let him down before he took the shot that hit the post. he more than made up for it with that shot on goal, which created the goal. look forward to see him and sneijder in midfield.

Looking forward more to seeing him on the flank and not in midfield, but ok :p

I saw alot of things i didnt like in that Spain performanc tonight. id worry for them

thank god Switzerland went out anyway.

that Portugal v Brazil game was awful.

the most important man for Brazil is gonna be their physio because if Robinho or Kaka get injured they are fucked.

why not bring Ronaldinho and Pato as squad players at least.?

i watched the 2006 WC final again on ESPN classics before the Brazil v Portugal match. i had forgotten how much France had dominated this game for large spells and that Zidane incident made me think what the fuck did you do all over again.

Spain still have time to peak. But they don't look that good just yet. Torres and Fabregas need to be fit and quick.

I'n glad the Swiss are you.

Anyway predictions for tomorrow.

Uruguay 2-1 South Korea
Ghana 1-1 U.S.A (Penalty shoot-out, USA win 4-3)

Por - Brazil sucked monkey balls. Huge, massive, hairy monkeyballs. The tempo was just...elderly citizen like.

Spain - Chile was alright. Weird red card though. The trip looked like an accident and it wasn't dangerous play. Woudn't say it was yellow-worthy. It would be ridiculous if Villa's action in the Honduras match is left unpunished to leave this suspension in place.

In any case, they both looked content with the way things were. Although the Chileans were a bit on the tight-rope. A Swiss goal and another Spain goal would've seen them eliminated (yes, two Swiss goals would've done the job as well, but the Swiss were never gonna score twice). But the match wasn't much cop in the second half.

Tomorrow we're gonna kick off with the second round. Things should really pick up from here.
