Yeah I saw that. Is he the "people's rooney"? Anyway, I was hoping for North Korea to win lol but I didn't think it would be feasible until I watched the first half. They were impressive.
Yeah, he's the 'peoples Rooney'. lol. He plays in Japan and has a good goal scoring record for North Korea; about a goal every 2nd game.

This was from an editorial

Apparently Jong is a regular blubberer during the North Korean national anthem, but he's not usually doing it in front of a global audience. So this isn't new for him, it's just new for th rest of the world. It's tempting to crack easy jokes about brainwashing or tear ducts being surgically modified to react to certain combinations of musical notes, but turns out Jong is a more interesting character than a simple victim of totalitarianism.

Jong was actually born in Japan to South Korean parents and has lived his entire life in Japan, where he currently plays in the J-League for Kawasaki Frontal. Jong is only "eligible to play for the DPRK after handing back his South Korean citizenship and [being] handed his new passport at the North Korean consulate in Tokyo." Which is a big move.

Tough to know what to make of Jong Tae-Se. Given his hard-working performance in the 2-1 defeat to Brazil, I'm inclined to believe those tears were genuinely patriotism-powered. Albeit for a nation he doesn't actually live in. So I'm also inclined to believe that at least one of the North Korean players that actually lives full time in North Korea was wishing Jong Tae-Se would just give it a rest and stop making them look unpatriotic by comparison.

Anyone see the South African NT singing together as they were walking into the stadium? lol. Looks like they're having a good team spirit; I wouldn't be surprised if they won today.

Deserved victory. Clear penalty. SA was poor. They were too static, didn't get open well up front, ran too much with the ball, pace was too low. They should gamble on speedy breakaways, but too often a midfielder started running with the ball and the lone striker dropped in to pick the ball up, but by then you had 4, 5 sometimes 6 Uruguayans behind the ball already.

Well played by uruguay, though. Forlan is on fiyaaaah

Forlan prolly thought he was playing Liverpool.

Bad day for S.A and Africa.
lol you asshole :)

despite being an ex manc Forlan is a favourite of mine. great attitude and very good footballer. I said that he may be the golden boot winner. Looks possible now :)

Also, Suarez is a very good player. very good to take on and beat players

the two central midfielders for Uruguay are immense. they won possession back so many times during this game and played well against France too.

they didnt show it on the pitch did they? lol all for show. I remember they did the same at France 98 and then got hammered in the match. think it was France they were playing.

they are shite and id love now if FIFA really wanted to keep them in tournament and tells the referee to help them win against France :)

Who didn't get destroyed by France in 98 ... We got destroyed by Thuram, how do you think I feel... lol

I was just extremely optimistic about S.A (forgetting all critical thinking about it), also hoping that it was Youth Day (day of the Soweto Uprising) would give them something extra, but they were ass.

At least I got epic pts from Forlan lol.

^^yea true. they beat Italy on penalties wasnt it? and Paraguay with a Laurent Blanc golden goal and Croatia probably should have beat them as well.

i watched that 98 WC Final again two weeks ago. Brazil were absolutely awful. most teams would have beaten them comfortably that night.

The Argentina coach Diego Maradona took a swipe at fellow greats Pelé and Michel Platini and also criticised the World Cup match ball at a press conference in South Africa.

Speaking before Thursday's Group B match with South Korea in Johannesburg, Maradona rounded on Pelé, who has been quoted as saying that Maradona took the Argentina job only because he needed the money. He said that Pelé should "go back to the museum" and claimed that Platini, the Uefa president, thinks he "is better than all the rest".

Maradona also criticised Platini over reported negative comments by the Frenchman about the 1986 World Cup winner's coaching ability: "Platini? I'm not surprised, I've always had a very distant relationship with him, it's always just hello and goodbye, nothing more than that.

"We all know how the French are, and Platini is French, and he believes he is better than rest."

The Jabulani ball also came under Maradona's scrutiny after questions about the dearth of goals and lack of excitement in the World Cup so far.

"I'm having a wonderful time, to me a World Cup is something that's quite amazing. I'm not worried by the fact there aren't many goals, I'm sure there will be goals, I'm sure the players will see to that," he said .

"Of course in the first matches you are more careful, perhaps more careful than you should be.

"And, of course, there's the ball. I don't want to go into the ball again because everyone is talking about it, but it is important and it does play a part and I would ask Pelé and Platini to go out there and play with the ball and take a closer look at it to see if it's a good one or bad one, and to stop talking rubbish about me."
lol

people criticise is managerial abilities but do they want entertainment or is playing 10 players behind the ball better? fuck off.

France didn't kill Italy in that tournament or Paraguay they were poor against both of them...
Yeah, you're right actually. I knew they had trouble with Italy, but I thought they had cruised by Paraguay. I guess I was thinking about something else.

Thuram is still a bitch though.

lmao @ Pele should go back to the museum. I heart Maradona.
