I feel for the Irish fans last night. They were going nuts, having fun, singing, chanting without pause. They deserved more.

The French just sat there, and decided to wave their flags only after they won. They prob lost half of their fan base anyways since Algeria qualified. lol
they were actually jeering and whislting at their team for the whole game

OMG....I just saw the handball in slow motion on Sky Sports News. That's a sickening way to crash out of the WC Qualifiers. How many of you play football on here? What do coaches in the game mean when they say Henry's actions were "instictive as any football player would have done it".

Henry is a great player but, that's not the kind of football fans want to watch from him.
They mean that if the ball hops up, one might instinctively put their hand out to stop the ball going behind them as they are running with it or if they fail to control it properly. There is a difference between that and intentionally using your hand to stop the ball going out of play and then using your hand to get the ball under control.

I don't think the world should condemn Henry as much as they are doing...every other footballer would've done the same thing, hell Gary Linekar tried scoring with his hand against Argentina in 1986 also. :thumb:

i never really like Henry and now i hate him. The big problem is the blind linesman that missed two french players in offside positions and two handballs in the build up.

Yea and to say that Maradona is a cheat and to be still sore over an incident that happened 25 years ago is fucking stupid as well.

not saying you are but the English in general are.

^Of course it is, I for one don't care for that.

If we are going to condemn Henry for the handball, what about Messi against Espanyol? Shall we call him a cheat forever? Scholes against Zenit? Linekar someone who never had a yellow card tried a fliyng punch against Argentina, shall we call them cheats also?

The fact that ONE incident ina 15 year career is worthy of calling him a cheat defies logic. In that case Zidane is a thug :thumb:

^It wasn't. Zidane has been sent off 14 times. I remember he headbutted another player while playing for Juventus. I will find the video on youtube.

there are suggestions that the match should be played again. just heard this on 60 second update on bbc.

i dont expect this to happen at all though - this is why, imagine if ireland win and go through, the uproar it would cause making the situation a whole lot worse.

Anyone know why the Bahrian and Uzbekistan game was replayed in 2005? It was for a similar incident I think..

I don't blame Henry at all, I blame the refereeing system.
To say you dont blame him at all is stupid.

You can not promote fairplay on the one hand and do shit like that on the other hand. Neither can you later on go up to the reporters and basically soley put the blame on the referee. Thats ridiculous and is not really a sign of a great character and sportsmanship.
