Yeah, it's one of the bigger rivalries, even in mondial football. It's not as bad as Rangers - Celtic (the religious aspect) or River - Boca and Fenerbahce - Galatasary (Argies and Turks, what can you say?) or Hajduk - Partizan (they went to proper war), but it's definitely a hot iron. They'll cave each other's heads in at any opportunity. People have died in the past.

^^^It's Dinamo and Red Star who went to war.

It's actually considered as the first visual sign of war.

These days, Partizan versus Red Star is just way too dangerous...

Hajduk - Partizan started fueling the war about a week or 2 (I think) before the Zagreb one but, once Red Star went to Zagreb all hell broke loose and it was considered the tipping point and the first real signs of war like Hizzle said, in addition, no stopping Boban's epic drop kick.

3:58 - we set the Yugoslavian flag on fire and the Hrvatska chanting... So it was slowly starting at that point.

But yeah, most rivalries in the Balkans end up pretty bad. We just played Dinamo in the cup-semis not long ago, and there were a good 40 arrests before the match even started. lol.

Yeah, i know Boban's kick was during Dinamo - Red Star, what i meant was that the two clubs' nations actually went to war.

Wasn't it always like, Dinamo - Red Star and Hajduk - Partizan for the most typical two rivalries? Although any Hajduk fan also hates Zagreb and Partizan pisses on Red Star.

Man, you Yugo's just dislike pretty much everyone, huh.. :D

Hey there. You know I'm pro-Yugo. You just want to make me mad.
I didn't think you were pro-Yugo as the way it was. I remembered you saying if it was somewhat different it would have been good, which to an extent I maybe agree.

We're all better off as it is now anyways. Even though there may not always be food on the table, at least simple liberties are not punished with time in prison or a nice few years in Goli Otok. lol.

Anyways, lets leave politics out of here, this can be dealt with on MSN. lol

The main rivalries were:

Hajduk - Partizan
Dinamo - Red Star

But, that doesn't mean that Dinamo wasn't a rival, or Velez Mostar for example. To be honest, you're kinda right when you say we pretty much dislike everyone, there wasn't a club that was a rival for a reason or another, at least in the top flight of the league it was that way.

Lol.

My (Velez Mostar) and David's club (Hajduk Split) were running hell in Yugoslavia against each other in the late 80s... I remember seeing an old lady throw rocks on the cars with Split license plates.

One of Velez players from went to Hajduk Split and his first game back in Mostar, someone threw a pumpkin/watermelon (can't remember) on him when he received a red card.

I know that Partizan and Velez had some kind of partnership before. I know that the fans were okay with eachother. But it all went to hell when their star player, Dragan Mance died... We sang

"On the Dunav river corpses are floating, is at least one of them named Dragan Mance, Dragan Maaaa-nceeee ooooh Dragan Manceeeeeeeeeeee".

Good times.

Btw, for you football fanatics, go watch some youtube videos of Dragan Mance. His nickname was Pele from the Balkans, and Pele himself named him like that. The guy was ace.

Pazzini > AC Milan

Great header and great win for Sampdoria.

4th is looking very possible now. i might have a team to follow in next seasons champions league after all.

although i think the Bayern Lyon could have a bearing on serie a losing a spot so if thats the case i hope Lyon win.
