btw 2Pax, would you blame a Liverpool supporter for being bitter these days? lol

as for Messi. i think he has the potential to be better than Maradona. If Argentina were to win the WC and Messi plays well (which he will have to do if they are to win it) then id go as far as say that he is the best player of all time and even if they dont win it this time he will be still only 26 when it comes around again.

Maradona was amazing though. Maradona took a fairly average looking Argentina side to WC victory and another final. He also took Napoli to two Scudettos. watching him play always sends shivers down my spine. He was one of those players that made you think " what the fuck did he just do?" so many times. Messi is like this too. im always like "what the fuck did he do there?" or "how did he get past him there?"

That`s The End Of That Argument, Then...

Back in February when Wayne Rooney had scored twice in Milan, the Daily Mail 'experts' all created their list of the best players in the world. Toppermost of the poppermost in most lists was Englishman Wayne Rooney - hardly surprising among those who work for a newspaper that blames all Britain's ills on asylum seekers, single parents and homosexuals.

Mind you, this was the newspaper that used the typically ignorant headline 'The best players of the world (and Xavi): Ronaldo crowned king of football' only last year. Yes, the Xavi who had been the heartbeat of a Spain side recently crowned champions of Europe. Yes, possibly the best central midfielder in the world.

We would like to see those same 'experts' make their lists again as Lionel Messi produces the kind of 'ridiculous' (Thierry Henry's word of choice) form that cannot simply be ignored on the grounds that he's suspiciously small, foreign-looking and for some inexplicable reason shows no interest in playing in glorious Blighty.

We have all seen those Messi v Rooney newspaper graphics this season in which British sports journalists cherry-pick statistics that prove 'our Wayne' is the best player in the world. Look at him - he's so big and strong and he scores more headers than that little Argie fella, that's for sure.

Sod the statistics (they mostly fall in favour of Messi anyway) and sod the superlatives - if you watched him against Stuttgart, or Valencia, or Real Zaragoza or now Arsenal, there's no point insulting your intelligence by trying to capture his talent in mere words.

He's simply the best player of his generation - that's all you need to know. Frankly, if you still think Rooney is a better footballer, you're either a member of the Rooney family or some kind of xenophobic revisionist who will always favour a pasty face.

The rest of us - including Arsenal fans who should feel no shame in defeat - cannot help but admire him. The best footballer in the world and he doesn't even appear to be a c**k? Bonus.

The fucking kid is 22, he hasn't even reached his peak yet. Can you imagine the shit he'll pull when he's 26. He'll probably invent some move like the Cruyff turn. It's a good time to be alive to see a kid like him play, since I was only able to see Maradona and company when I was really young, or on video.

I'd like to add, if I was a flaming fudgepucker, I'd let Messi violate my anus.

Me too. Who wrote that? I mean the author. I wanted to write him an e-mail for the past year.
not sure of the journalists name but its from the Daily Mail. racist, xenophobic scum newspaper. I remember reading that in the 30 days after the Hatian earthquake it never made the front page once while Ashely and Cheryl Cole was on the front page something like 20 times. That about sums them up really.

but yea Seb, it would take a great side to win back to back European Cups. its never been done since the competition was revamped in 1992. but there have been great teams in the past that have done so. Ajax and Bayern have even won 3 in a row. i think this Barca team is good enought to do it. no doubt Mourinho will have a plan in store though to try and stop them and Messi. i hope its not some bullshit plan of kicking him around the place though.

^^your probably right lol although Arbeloa did a very good job at the Nou Camp in 2007. Messi was just back from injury though and was still only 18 or 19.

There is no doubt in my mind that Mourinho will have something prepared for Messi. Inter / Barca will be a great game.

I thanked DJ Manny cause he's right, Messi last night was magic :)

Lastly, I think Bayern have great chances today. Is Olic starting again? His headless chicken runs will bring more goal of epic sillyness. :D

What about Pranjic?

It was said 4 hrs ago that he's fit and ready to play. Thankfully, I'll be home to watch the game. Hope he does well.. :)
